Dear White People is a shining example of pure creativity and being socially focused. The film focuses on a group of college students from different cliques, who all begin to realize that they share one of the same plights being...racism/accepted racial separation. The way that subject is addressed and examined in a fresh way by a fresh voice is astounding. Any key topic going on like: LGBT awareness, interracial dating, internalized racism and beauty standards are all discussed with wit and honesty. Dear White People also showcases some of the best young actors, destined to become the next generation of greats. This is definitely a movie to see because the conversations afterwards need to be had.

"Dear White People" is a film that hits a chord and with good reason. Given the news one hears in the news about racial inequality, it seemed almost serendipitous for "Dear White People" to shine a light on it in the most controversial place possible: a prestigious and (no pun intended) "white bread" university. The jokes and heart hit fast and hard while asking its audience to think long and hard about where race relations have gone and where they need to go. Tessa Thompson is an actress who will definitely go far.

I loved the inclusion of the gay character, it adds depth to the movie. It would seem on this campus that bullying is a way of life and the fact that the deans child can run things seemingly without consequences just baffled my mind. I love to see movies that are uplifting and teach good life lessons and in a few ways this movie filled the bill!
