    Synopsis

    Europa Report
Director Sebastian Cordero (Rage, Pescador) follows a team of intrepid space explorers to one of Jupiter's moons on a mission to investigate evidence of a subterranean ocean that could contain single-celled life in this ambitious sci-fi thriller produced in collaboration with NASA. Determined to explore the possibility that the oceans of Europa could harbor primitive life, a privately funded firm called Europa Ventures assembles six of planet Earth's best astronauts, and sends them deeper into the stars than any human has ever traveled. Should they succeed in reaching their destination and collecting crucial data, mankind could finally have an answer to the age-old question of whether or not we're alone in the universe. In the wake of a frightening technological failure that cuts off all communications with Earth and an unexpected loss that shakes the crew to their very core, the brave astronauts battle physical fatigue and psychological distress before arriving on Europa and making a discovery that could revolutionize our view of the universe. Sharlto Copley, Michael Nyqvist, and Christian Camargo star. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Buy it to trow money away

Seen this so many times and it seems to never get noticed that people do not like movies that are so predictable and boring. I watch the movie on a streaming service instead, skipped thru much of it since you know what is going to happen. "Spoiler alert": The movie is like every other Horror/Terror, Alien, Mars, Space movie. People star dying one by one. You can tell the movie Director/Studio/Producers want to keep doing it because they think you will be surprised by the "great" ending. Really, you will not be so much surprised or impressed. Stay away from Renting/buying/investing any money on this title, watch it if there is nothing good on TV, you will better watching a documentary of how a mold grows for an hour than this thing called a movie.

"Europa Report" is a first-rate movie in documentary style. It's told by the actors as the drama unfolds with little commentary from others. One problem with this style is that the movie can slow down, which happens with this movie. It's not too bad, though. There is plenty of suspense, and the actors respond realistically to the action. The set is excellent, and that helps the actors fill out the roles. If you're looking for blockbuster action, this film is not for you. If you're interested in serious sci-fi that explores the possibility of life in our solar system, this movie is for you. It's a fun movie with a good payoff at the end.

I missed this movie when it came out in theaters so when i saw it on sale at Best Buy I picked it up. I was not disappointed. It is a nice change from the silly "blow-them-up" rubbish that passes for science fiction. The acting & direction are consistently good. For the most part, the directory resists the temptation of sudden loud noises to startle the audience. If you prefer "Star Trek" to "Star Wars" you will like this movie. If you just like watching things blow-up with loud noises then this is not for you.

From all the hype to critics reviews, every one says this is a superior sci-fi film. Did anybody bother to watch it? No suspense, no mystery, below average acting and predictable from start to finish. It's like a bad compilation of a few quality science fiction films. Dialogue is boring, special effects were average at best, and it presents you with nothing you haven't seen a dozen times before. I was waiting for it to get better, but it never does. My recommendation; rent it first. That way you won't waste as much money as you would buying it.

I heard a lot of buzz on the internet about this movie. It was one of the first crowd-funded movies, and also was one of the first which was released as streaming video simultaneously with a limited theatrical release. Despite a relatively low budget this movie has high production values and is a well-crafted, well acted movie. The movie is done in the style similar to many reality TV shows out today but it works. If you like science fiction adventure stories, particularly if you liked The Martian, check this movie out.

Shot in the found footage format, this film builds suspense slowly but with intensity. Little by little you see the break down of a mission to moon Europa. The acting is great and is reminiscent of Lake Mungo. If you liked Sunshine (Danny Boyle) then you will most likely enjoy this movie. The blu-ray has a behind the scenes that explores creating the images for the movie, interviewing the cast, and the making of Bear Mccreary's awesome soundtrack.

Pretty good even when compared to "Gravity"

If you are in to the sciences and thought the movie "Gravity" was 4.5 - 5.0 stars for its character development, cinematography, special affects, plot and scientific accuracy, then this movie would be about a 3.5. Its pretty good even in the shadow of "Gravity". Critics say it has a weak plot and weak character development, but this movie was made with NASA and was meant to be Documentary-ish! Its what I expected and was not disappointed! Enjoy!

      Found footage ... in space!

I found the trailer to be intriguing and really looked forward to seeing the film itself. It appeared to be unique and fresh, with much attention paid to the science of the story. Unfortunately, the film rather devolves into what's become typical for "found footage" movies, and ultimately has little that's truly new to offer.
