So Hard, But I love it!

I must first say that after playing Fifa for over 5 years, this is by far the most challenging one for me. The graphics are awesome and the game play, for the most part is smooth. The AI is definitely harder. In fact, I sometimes think it is juiced. They seem to know every move that I am going to make and shoots, much less scoring is hard to come by. I have played for a couple of weeks and I definitely lose (mostly, 1-0) more than I win. So, I am still learning how to play. No longer can you outrun opponents. You will need strategy, or tricks, to score and win at this game. Despite the difficulty that I am experiencing, I still love the game. It is nothing like actually seeing the ball go into the net. I have not played the Journey mode, so I cannot comment on that. The menus and functions are the same for the most part as the past few years. You will definite want to use more tactics in the game this time around. I did experience a glitch in the game where I was fired during the transfer period and went to another team. Yes, I was fired in the middle of my second season (which you have objectives to complete and winning is definitely one of them.) When I tried to search for players to buy during the transfer period, I was booted back to the home screen. This happened every time. I found no work around that worked for me so I just restarted a new manager mode. If you have experience this and found out how to work around it, please let me know. Despite the glitch, I do enjoy the game. Losing is no fun, but I have to keep playing and try new techniques to defend and put that ball back into the net. If you are looking for a challenging, realistic, for the most part, soccer game, then this one is for you. I hope this helps. If you a fan of the serious, definitely get it; I think you will enjoy.

      My Addiction

FIFA 17 is a big step from its predecessor. It includes a new engine, and the background hasn't looked as bad as FIFA 16. The game became more fun with The Journey. Playing as Alex Hunter made me feel like I was developing a player. The manager mode let me play one of my favorite clubs in the Premier League, Manchester United. I did some exiting stuff, like buying Ronaldo from Real Madrid, and Signing with the US International Team. Player career made me develop my own player. My player just got recalled from loan at Mansfield Town. Kick Off is especially fun with other people. My brother and I played as Manchester United and Arsenal. Apparently, my brother got 3 people yellow cards and 1 player a red card. Being able to create my own tournament mad the game more fun. I could be creative with the teams & the tournament itself. This was a great game, and I like to play it after stressful days.

A great game, just lacking depth.

I have always loved FIFA games. They always bring something fun to the table, and this year is no different. The standard gammet of championships and plethora of teams from all over the world, are the focal point of the game. Yet there are certain things that are lacking there, and that's the ease of ability to cross-challenge in a tournament; I.e. World Cup and UEFA champions league. You do have the ability to make a custom tournament, but the instructions on how to do so are vague and easily misunderstood. One unexpected champion of this game, is "The Journey" mode. In this mode, you follow the life of a young boy, who wants nothing more than to play professionally like his father, and grandfather, before him. Apart from some rather cliché moments, this mode does a very good job at stealing the show. I highly recommend it for both newcomers and regulars, alike.

      Best FIFA Game in Years

Sports games tend to reproduce the same game year after year, only changing one or two features at a time. Every now and then, they will overhaul the entire game. This version of FIFA is that overhaul. The new engine is smooth and makes for a much better game. The passing and shooting accuracy is improved. The control of your player on the pitch is better than it ever has been--from dribbling around the defender, to being the defender who moves with the player with the ball or bodying up a player for's all been completely revamped this year. If you're on the fence because you feel that the game is the same each year, know that this year, it is not. Well worth the purchase!

I love soccer, and I've always loved the FIFA series. I'm 41 years old and I've played every single FIFA since the very beginning. In today's game, I REALLY wish they would create all of the MLS stadiums and structure the standings like the MLS, it's simple programming, just do it already. Anyway, the gameplay is actually really good, the graphics are good. I hate that they got rid of the CREATION CENTER where you could upload other teams that people have created, even leagues, such as the USL and NASL (NY Cosmos!!!). The game is still fun, but every year it needs some work.

Great value and good gameplay, but not perfect

FIFA 17 is better than last year's version. Fast players move fast again but not overpowering, as defenders are able to chase. There's a good balance and as a result the pace is just right. FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT) is once again my favorite part of the game. The main issue I have with the game is that ground passes still move a bit slow when compared to PES 2017. The controls are also a bit less responsive than PES. Neither one of these are deal breakers because the insane number of teams and league licenses, as well as the replayability FUT, make FIFA 17 a better purchase than PES this year.

      The best FIFA yet!

An excellent upgrade over last year's game. You now have more control than ever in passing and creating chances. If you are a long time FIFA player it takes some getting used to, but it is more rewarding than ever when it all comes together. The Journey game mode is very well done and a pleasant surprise. I agree with other reviewers who said there is not much replay value here, but it is a lot of fun to play through once before going back to other game types. Everyone always gets mad at EA for never changing anything, well, they listened, and the result is the best FIFA yet.

One step forward, one step back

The only redeemable thing about this year's FIFA, is the addition of the new "Journey" sp game mode. While not perfect and having lots of room for improving, it's refreshing and has potential. Unfortunately that's all the good thing I have to say. Gameplay in general "feels" a tad smoother, but alas, is basically the same as last year. Actually, I liked last year's more. Pro Clubs gameplay is utter garbage, with the AI still doing the same questionable decisions, and controllers being unresponsive (ugly 1st touch, delayed controller inputs, etc).
