    Useful busy Family Freezer

Purchased to store additional family food and those bulky purchases from CostCo. Baskets - for $36 I purchased 3 14x16x8 white wire baskets that fill one side of the freezer from Home Depot search "closetmaid 1088". They stack on top and have room to reach inside making it easy to organize food. Internal dimensions are 19" x 37" with height of 26", but one side has a block where machinery goes that removes a 19x9x9 block spanning the depth. The existing basket is 9" wide by 7" deep and spans the 19" depth. This basket slides from one side of the freezer to the next. Operating noise is low (slightly quieter than my 3yr old kitchen fridge freezer). Assuming it holds up for a few years I think its well worth the 230 sale price and will pay for itself if it saves my family from having to eat out 3 times due to lack of food in the house.

    Converted Beer fridge aka Keezer

So i purchased this chest freezer after discovering that I was out growing my kegerator for home brewing. I figured it would be a great project to do with the old man... A few pieces of wood, some hardware, and some time well spent with my retired father resulted in a beautiful converted Keezer! This will hold six 5 gallon corny kegs and two 2.5 gallon corny kegs on the shelf/compressor hump. Yes it does have room. Comes with one wire basket that I removed for more space. This is a solid chest freezer for storing food too. The freezer has depth to store the items that don't fit in your normal freezer. A bit of a reach to get to the bottom but that just me as I had added a wooden collar around the top and re-mounted the lid. An Ink Bird temp control device was added to override the temperature and prevent it from freezing my beer. Thumbs up on this product! Cheers!

needed a replacement chest freezer to operate in an unconditioned garage... sometimes the temperature drops below 20 degrees F and our old freezer would fail to keep food frozen when it did. I read a lot of specs of various brands and found about 60% of freezers are not recommended to be used in such conditions. Insignia came up on a number of my online searches and the specs and reviews seemed favorable, and the price was very good, so I ordered it online through Best Buy to be picked-up at the store - no delivery charges and quick availability. Install was simple... it fit perfectly where my old freezer was, and it reached 0 degrees in less than 2 hours, so I could load up pretty quickly. almost one month ... no issues

    Huge freezer But,....

I just received this freezer yesterday and it cooled quickly. While I understood it only came with one basket per the reviews I read, I didn't realize you could not find any replacement baskets. For me this is a huge turn off, I've added a picture that shows the amount of wasted space on top of this freezer. It makes it unfriendly to anyone who would like to use it for smaller items or as a family friendly freezer. I wouldn't mind paying for extra ones, but even according to the insignia site they just don't sell them. waste of space :(

This chest freezer stores everything I had trouble storing my my side-by-side fridge freezers. I have two: one in my kitchen and one in my garage. I frequently entertain, and also like to save money by purchasing meat on sale, vacuum sealing it, and freezing it. I have almost emptied my two side-by-side fridge freezers, bought more to add to the chest, and STILL haven't filled it 1/3 of the way. With milk crates, it stays super organized. I don't know how I lived without it!

I have not had any negative issues with this freezer. It has been working quietly and well for over a month. I like the build quality more than my old Frigidaire which had gotten many dents over the years. The smooth surface is much easier to clean and doesn’t attract dirt the way my old one did. I like the way the lid is hinged and the seal seems much tighter than my old unit. So far this has been a good purchase and at a very good price. Time will tell. I will be adding some stacking baskets which are inexpensively purchased online. I don’t usually give 5 star ratings but I haven’t found any reason to remove one at this time.

    Good Freezer, Better Kegerator

I purchased 2 of these because of the reviews and great price. One I am using as a freezer. As a freezer, I would give this 3.5 stars, mainly because it doesn't allow you to control the temperature accurately and it doesn't get super cold even at its max setting but I'm guessing that's why it gets an energy star rating. The other I hooked up to a temperature controller and use it as a kegerator. It easily holds 6-7 corny kegs and works great with an insulated wood spacer I made with taps and the temperature controller.

Needed a freezer big enough to hold a whole beef. I have had it for a couple of months and has preformed flawlessly. I was able to fit an entire beef, a whole deer, a couple of pork butts, and still have some space left over. Got this on sale, and it was 100$ less than the closest match (size wise) in the entire metro area, and less than half the cost of a upright. These are also handy to keep popsicles/ice cream and stuff in where the kids are going to be frequently opening it. Our main fridge/freezer has a hard time removing the moisture when the humidity is high during the summer and throws a code for being froze up. This has ended that problem, as it is not as affected as much by being opened.
