Great large TV for a great price!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This would actually be my fourth Insignia TV purchase. I previously bought the 24”, 32”, and 43” versions, and I am now a proud owner of Insignia’s largest size class of flat screen television. I mainly have used them to game on my consoles and watch my DVDs and Blu-Rays, and they all have looked and played great on all of them. 1080p is still good enough for me; I don’t need 4K yet right now. Nor do I use all those Smart TV features. Set up was quick, easy, and user friendly. There are different picture modes meant for different uses. I usually keep mine at the Vivid setting, for those bright, vibrant, brilliant colors, with slight adjustments. Images are sharp, clear, crisp, and colorful. The sound is adequate, but I might still suggest connecting some kind of external speaker system to the unit if one truly wants better quality audio. The product was also rather light for a television of its size, which surprised me a little. I thought I would be struggling to get it into place, but I was able to lift it on my own and set it where I wanted to, and I’m not a big guy. Note to possible future buyers: the tips of the TV’s legs, from one outer edge of a footprint to the other, is about 39 inches apart. I hope this helps those who wish to use the stands included with the TV and stand it up on a table of some kind. If you’re looking for just a basic, good-quality, modern flat-screen television that does the job and sells for a bargain price, you really can never go wrong with Insignia. While there are Smart TV and 4K versions of some of Insignia’s screens, the non-Smart TV and 720s and 1080s work just as well for those who do not need/use Smart TV features or are content with those resolutions for now. Particularly, it doesn’t get much better of a deal than $300 for a 55” screen. Other brand TVs of similar sizes would run up to around twice that much or more. I personally would like to thank Insignia and Best Buy for making the possibility of owning a flat screen television much more affordable and accessible. So what are you waiting for? Buy an Insignia flat-screen television set for your home or business today!

Can't beat for price...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a "dumb"/basic TV - nothing "SMART" 3 HDMI and 1 Analog Video input. Just fine for my needs. Color is not a "perfect" out of the box experience and requires some tweaks. There are other imperfections that some may not like -- concerning the picture quality. But it was CHEAP. So, not being so picky here - just mentioning it. I find the sound to be adequate. It is as loud or louder than any other TV I have owned. I like the bezel, especially how the "Insignia" name almost fades away and isn't as noticeable/bold as other TV's I own. The on-screen menu/guide takes some getting used to - but seems to work without any bugs that I have noticed. Changes channels very fast - even has an on-screen clock! The remote is basic - but I love that it has large buttons and some of the largest printing I have seen on a remote.

last of the great 1080p dumb TVs
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great dumb TV that I've made into a smart TV by adding a fire stick and a Channel Master DVR Plus. I have also added an antenna to watch broadcast TVs that works that play only in 720p and 1080i. So this TV is perfect for the time being until atsc 3 standard comes in in about 2 to 3 years and then they'll start broadcasting 4K television signals. At this time I have adjusted the brightness to contrast and the color using a world of Wonder Blu-ray Disney disc that is a video reference Blu-ray for calibration. And I have also hooked up my Sony 5.1 sound system by coaxial cable to the audio output of the TV it sounds fantastic and the skin tones and color are true to life after tweaking everything you cannot get a better deal for $229!

Just what I needed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Haven't had it long, but it's my second Insignia tv (have a 40" in my bedroom") and it's suiting the purpose and I'm loving it. Didn't need a smart tv because I have Amazon Fire TV. The price was very good for a 55". I do agree that the sound could be better, but I'm not usually one to blast my tv during a movie, etc. May buy a speaker bar though at some point, but for now, it's working just fine for me. Very happy with my purchase.

Better than I expected
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted a quality TV for a decent price. I found this one and slept on it for weeks before making the purchase and I’m glad I did. Pros: volume louder than I thought (I tweaked the settings until I found one that works best for me), picture quality, price, screen size Cons: no buttons on the TV, unless I missed something

Q: QuestionHow wide are the legs?
Asked by Insignia.
- A:Answer From leg to leg is 35" I had to go to the store to measure as I wanted to make sure it would fit on my TV stand
Answered by Sean
Q: QuestionHow long is the warranty on this Insignia?
Asked by Gene.
- A:Answer I highly recommend Best Buy's 3 or 5 year warranty that you purchase from them. If the TV does not work or has problems, they either fix it or give you a new one--no boxing up, mailing off, etc. And this warranty is good at ANY Best Buy store!

Q: QuestionIs this a smart TV where it's capable of accessing Hulu Netflix and such?
Asked by Moose78.
- A:Answer No, but an easy way to make it a "smart" TV capable of accessing Netflix, Hulu, etc., is to plug a Roku stick (or Google Chromecast or Amazon Firestick) into one of its HDMI ports on the back or side of the TV. Plus, the stick is portable; you can take it to the beach, lake, hotels, etc.

Q: QuestionWhat kind of display panel does this 55 inch Insignia 1080p LED-backlit LCD dumb HDTV come with - VA, IPS, or something else? I wanna know if this TV maintains full color accuracy without fading when viewed from virtually every angle. Thanks in advance!
Asked by dmt1986.
- A:Answer I have it hooked up in my basement to an antenna no cable and I can see it from any angle
Answered by Johnzcat
Q: QuestionI see a lot of reviews that mention poor sound/volume on the 55 inch Insignia, I have a 32 inch Insignia with Great sound quality/volume. Has anyone else seen the same situation where the sound on the smaller tv is lost on the 55 inch tv?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer I have great sound. You can always hook up an inexpensive surround sound if you are picky. Mine is great for entertaining without external extra speakers.
