Allergies seemed to be flaring up more frequently over the years so, I thought maybe this air purifier would offer some relief. I  initially purchased the large one to use in a family room setting for a month. It worked beautifully and was very quiet. This lead to the purchase of two additional medium size units for the Home Office and Master Bedroom. So far, all three units have been doing their jobs very well.

Easy to setup, easy to use. Auto features are a peace of mind feature. We love it!

I have to be honest I never thought these things worked until I get this one. But I noticed a big difference in my allergies and my headaches since we have had it. It keeps the air at 99.9 until I open a door or window for a few minutes then I see how it really works. The air quality goes to 66.8 to around 77.5 with all the fires we are having right now. I am so happy I am going to go buy 2 more for the rest of the house.

I bought 5 of these purifiers in different sizes and have 1 in each room. I already owned a Shark purifier and was impressed at how well of a job it did cleaning, that I decided to invest in 5 more purifiers. The Shark is great and immediately begins cleaning at the slightest hint of smoke or a cooking odor in the air. I actually moved the Shark to my upstairs bedroom and even from upstairs it can detect me cooking in the kitchen below. As great as the Shark is, it is quite expensive, and I was not willing to pay that price for 5 additional purifiers. I decided on the Instant purifiers because they were on clearance for a great price, and it was made by a reputable brand. Based on how successful they have been with their pressure cookers, I thought I couldn't go wrong. Boy was I ever. This purifier is terrible! I plan to take all of them back. Aesthetically it looks great, and you can't go wrong with either color. I have both colors. They do not do a good job at cleaning. They have great features built in, but they are poorly executed. For example, they have a night feature on it that activates after the lights are turned off in your home and it sits in the dark for about 10 minutes. This feature is meant to quiet the purifier down so that in case you use it in a bedroom, it doesn't keep you awake with too much noise. Even if it detects smoke in the air, it won't turn the fan up high to clean the air quicker and will stay on low until the lights come back on. I burned some toast, and it created a lot of smoke, and even though the Instant had the air quality at 15%, it just stayed on low. I don't like this feature and am fine with the fan turning up high if contaminants are being detected in the air. It also has an eco-mode that puts it to sleep, and it only analyzes the air every 10 minutes. During the time it's in eco mode if there is smoke or any odors in the air, it won't clean the air until the next time it analyzes the air after the 10 minutes is up. Your house can be filling up with smoke and it won't do anything about it until the 10 minutes is up. Now this is only when you have the purifier in auto mode. You do have the option to manually adjust the fan speed at any time. I just prefer devices that give you the ability to set it and forget it. The Shark on the other hand has an eco-mode also, but when it detects something in the air, it immediately wakes up and begins to clean the air. Some people think the Shark is too sensitive, but I prefer it that way. The Instant purifier got a score of 26 with consumer reports, which is poor, and now I understand why.

Instant Brands, well known for their product “Instant Pot”, has launched an impressive new product for air purification. Available in three (3) sizes the overall design features are the same, but the smaller version is most efficient up to 126 square feet while the larger version that I am reviewing, the Instant AP300, works well in areas up to 388 square feet. There is also a medium size that cleans up to 228 sq. feet. Each size is manufactured in both black and white. The product is designed very well. It isn’t a heavy bulky item, but instead is very easy to relocate within your space. All sizes are made with true HEPA-13 filter, combine a 3 in 1 filtration system that removes ultra-fine particles including 99.9% of bacteria, virus, mold and even the virus that causes Covid -19, uses a carbon filter to reduce odor, and has an antimicrobial filter coating designed just to prevent microbial growth and ensure longevity of the filter. Also, incorporated into the design is Plasma Ion Technology that emits positive and negative ions which isolate and break down the impurities in the air. The manufacturer states that the purifier works to purify the air 5X per hour. I have been using the AP300 for two weeks and with out a doubt I can definitely tell a very large difference when it is not turned on. I believe it does recycle the air 5X per hour. I really like the size of the air purifier and the cylindrical shape blends into the interior environment. The controls offer a variety of options and are easily placed on the top. The Auto Mode adjust the fan speed up or down according to the air quality the purifier detects. Night Mode senses room lightness or darkness and when dark, turns off the display lights, the plasma ion generator and reduces the decibels of the equipment to a quiet mode. If the air quality is detected as good for 30 minutes, the Eco Mode will cycle the fan on and off every 10 minutes which allows for 50 % energy reduction and makes the purifier Energy Star Certified. The controls are well organized. Besides the Power, Auto, Eco and Light Level controls, there is also a Fan Switch that overrides the Auto function, a Fan Speed indicator that controls the 3 levels of fan speed, a Filter Light that blinks orange when in need of replacement, a Plasma Ion switch that enables On/Off Positioning, a button that displays AQ Info and an Air Quality Indicator. The second day that I had the purifier on I left the house for 2 hours after having a pest exterminator treat my basement for spiders. The Air Quality had been registering in the upper 90s and when I returned the light on the unit was illuminating RED! I immediately thought it must be malfunctioning, but then I looked, and the Air Quality was registering 38 where it had been around 96 or above since turning the unit on. I realized that the extermination fog had entered my HVAC unit which is also in the basement and filtered through the upper living space of the house where this unit was placed. I must have returned home just as the concentration of the pesticide fog had reached the purifier because it took about 20 minutes to return to normal. This was a very good test for my new air purifier, and I could see in real time, its efficiency, and functions. The air feels cleaner, breathing is easier and freer, and I highly recommend this product. I think it is well worth the investment and I have had air purifiers of all types all of my life. This is a good purchase and measures well to some of the more costlier purifiers.

We’ve been able to test out a few filter systems in our home, and with COVID a new concern, our requirements are even greater than before. This new Air Purifier from Instant Home adds some impressive new features we’re trying out. Bottom line: the Instant AP300 is proving that it’s a seriously effective room air purification tool. From its advanced filtering, to its enhanced germ killing technology, and its easy-to-live with design, the Instant AP 300 is very easy to recommend. It’s intelligent automation relieves me of having to fuss over one more thing in my life. The biggest surprise of all is how it matches the performance of a purifier costing 5X its price. OUT-OF-THE-BOX this 21”high x 10.5” diameter pearl white cylinder has the simplest of setups. Open the bottom filter door so you can pull off the plastic wrap on the large multi-layered filter. That’s it. Insert the filter; Close the door. Plug in the INSTANT Air Purifier. Hit the POWER ON button and watch it count down from 30. If you want the purifier to operate in full AUTO mode, you’re done. The APP: There is NO APP. I know, I know. On the one hand I like connected devices even if they can be aggravating. However, I simply don’t need the connectivity. I simply don’t care with the Insta AP300. The smart technology and complete automation that works wonderfully overcomes any misgivings I might have. AUTO MODE: The INSTANT AP300 selects a speed based on its measurements of air quality and can operate without user interaction for 24 hours/day. This particular unit is designed for a 388 sq ft room, which is a fairly large bedroom or average family room or office. The panel light glows WHITE, YELLOW, or RED to indicate good, fair, or low quality air during the current operational cycle. Quality is based on the presence of various levels of 2.5 micrometer particles per cubic meter of air. According to Instant, the unit has a sensor that has a tolerance of +/- 20 micrograms per square meter. IF YOU want filtering all the time, select a preferred fan speed and forget about it. I want the Instant AP 300 to take control. The filtering design, Plasma Ion logic, and sensing technology have got this all under control. FILTER: The 3-in-one filter and plasma ion technology is claimed to remove 99.9% of dust, smoke, pollen, dander and other allergens. Test were performed to show that, with room size limitations and greater air exchanges and with the plasma technology on, COVID virus counts were reduced by 99.9%. Filter efficiency claims are certified by AHAM. Other tests were performed under laboratory conditions, and the test virus used was actually COVID-19. The filter also has an Antimicrobial coating to reduce bacterial growth during use and a CARBON FILER layer to help reduce odors. PLASMA ION Technology: Instant’s test results suggest that the ionizer used is effective at reducing the viability of bacteria, viruses and mold that is pulled through this filter. It is NOT an ozone producer. There is no tell-tale odor associated with ozone and Instant Brands support indicated that their plasma system has been tested and certified to be ozone-free (less than 0.005 ppm). Instant’s certification labels on the unit repeat the claim. [Ozone has a distinct odor which humans are VERY sensitive to, smelling like an electrical spark, or metallic, and it is irritating. My experience with medical equipment cleaners has given me exposure to that smell. It is definitely not present here.] NOISE LEVEL: The fan in the AP300 is quite large but it is suspended on a mount that is isolated from the outer shell rather well. This eliminates the hum you often hear with most mechanical devices. It difficult to tell that it’s on at the lowest speed. It only makes its presence know when it’s moving lots of air through that filter. I use my iPhone sound check software and a dB meter to double check sound during my home’s VERY quietest periods. Here’s what I measured. Lowest Speed: 33dB at 1 meter away. Essentially silent in the quietest house at night. Medium Speed: 44dB at 1 meter away. Barely audible, daytime, considered a quiet home level. Highest Speed: 68dB at 1 meter away. You can’t miss the rushing air sound. This is the air purifier you want to have in your bedroom at night. We’ve never measured a quieter room filter. ECO Mode: The Instant AP300 will switch into ECO mode when its 10 minute test cycle shows HIGH QUAITY AIR. If AIR QUALITY drops to any other condition (LOW or MEDIUM) the AP300 pauses ECO mode until Air Quality is returned to HIGH. You can force the AP300 into full-time operation by selecting any of the FAN SPEEDS other than AUTO. For the impatient, it may seem like the AP300 has simply shut off during its ECO mode, but it definitely wakes up to test air quality and pull air through its filters. I watched and waited. The LIGHT level of the display can be manually selected (4 levels) but it reverts to AUTOMATIC during the next DAY or NIGHT mode occurrence. Holding down the preferred LIGHT mode for 3 seconds keeps it in that setting. SUMMARY: So, how does this new Instant AP300 work? We’ve been using it for a few weeks and it is impressive. It’s really really quiet. It’s very easy to operate and has more than enough flexibility to be placed in a bedroom or an office and meet whatever requirements I have. The filter is substantial and inspires confidence.The technology has been tested to achieve the stated filtering and microbe killing effectiveness. Compared to an air purifier costing 5X this price, it senses and addresses poor air quality at the same time and with matching performance. And, the Instant AP300 looks good, but operates quietly, no matter where you put it. Highly recommended.
