Based on Peter Benchley's best-selling novel, Steven Spielberg's 1975 shark saga set the standard for the New Hollywood popcorn blockbuster while frightening millions of moviegoers out of the water. One early summer night on fictional Atlantic resort Amity Island, Chrissie decides to take a moonlight skinny dip while her friends party on the beach. Yanked suddenly below the ocean surface, she never returns. When pieces of her wash ashore, Police Chief Brody (Roy Scheider) suspects the worst, but Mayor Vaughn (Murray Hamilton), mindful of the lucrative tourist trade and the approaching July 4th holiday, refuses to put the island on a business-killing shark alert. After the shark dines on a few more victims, the Mayor orders the local fishermen to catch the culprit. Satisfied with the shark they find, the greedy Mayor reopens the beaches, despite the warning from visiting ichthyologist Hooper (Richard Dreyfuss) that the attacks were probably caused by a far more formidable Great White. One more fatality later, Brody and Hooper join forces with flinty old salt Quint (Robert Shaw), the only local fisherman willing to take on a Great White--especially since the price is right. The three ride off on Quint's boat "The Orca," soon coming face to teeth with the enemy.~Lucia Bozzola

Great 4K Transfer Makes Me Feel Sorry for the DVD!
Little need be said about the many ways “Jaws” pioneered a whole genre, set new standards, and remains thoroughly enjoyable in its own right. And this 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray edition makes use of the best technology yet to capture what this movie has to offer, and bring it into our homes.
From the opening scene, the images are so sharp and vibrant, they are more lifelike than ever. This 4K transfer reveals a rich palette of details and subtle nuances that I had never noticed on the DVD—which is the reason for the title I gave this review. From the sense-fueled beach party at night to the scenic views of Martha’s Vineyard by day to the showdown with the shark at sea—with these images, you are all but right in the middle of things. (Oh, and I meant Amity Island, of course.)
The sound was already great on the DVD. Now that we have this 4K Blu-ray, the picture has pulled even with the sound. Add to that a generous lineup of bonus features, and you will find that this edition is the one of choice.
PS: The Movies Anywhere code is nice to have, but the video is somewhat pixelated on my 27’’ monitor.
Jaws in 4K was a Awesome restoration of its original film. The movie is that much clearer the close ups are true 4K material. The sound is good but not much going on for home theater. But it still makes the music sound great. If you love this movie like I do then yes it’s a must for 4K lovers.
Excellent quality on the 4K disc over a standard Blu-ray edition.
You will see, hear and feel a difference. Many times an older film like Jaws doesn't really look all that great in 4K. But not with this edition. They took much time and energy to make it have the look and sound of a new release. So, that's why you should get this one. Here's why you should pick up a steelbook copy of anything from Best Buy at curbside or in store: They ship steelbook editions in a bubble envelope. No cardboard slats on each side, no bubble pack. This won't be very cool if Grandpa's heavy Betamax is getting shipped right beside it, and lands on it. It could really be damaged easy with what they use to ship.
Steven Spielberg's 1975 blockbuster masterpiece has never looked better. Sublime 4k restoration! This is the definitive release of JAWS and a must own. The simple, clean SteelBook design is gorgeous as well.
