This fridge replaced my 20 year old Roper with traditional layout - white - freezer on top fridge on bottom. The French door design is pretty nice if you can remember which side you stored something. The convenience drawer makes it so you have to open both doors at once, but again works pretty well – I sort of wish that it was designed split as well. I would say that the door trays are a little less substantial than I would prefer, but work pretty well (for instance, I accidentally knocked on one of the upper trays from the bottom and almost dislodged it - but I'm getting used to it, and it is nice that they can be removed and washed. The fridge seems to be keeping my produce and other items nicely - they last a lot longer than in my old fridge. Also, It's doing a great job with the ice - nice and filtered - so no fridgey smell. The two gripes I have with this thing are 1. the water dispenser on the inside left hand side of the fridge shoots out water in a very strong stream, and often the water splashes out of the glass and spatters – especially if you’re using a smaller/shallower glass. There should be control over the pressure (especially since you have to use two hands anyway to hold the cup and press the internal button - couldn't KitchenAid have just made it a lever, dial or something like that?), and there should be something to catch the spattering water, instead of it just spattering on the inside of the fridge (although the spattering is not that much - it's a design flaw). 2. When you open the doors independently, and then close them, the right hand door works really smoothly and always closes. The left hand door (which in this model is the smaller of the two) has an integrated 'piano' latch that's spring loaded to aid in sealing the French door design. If you don't close the door with a specific force, and speed, sometimes the door won't close fully, or sometimes, because of the way it's designed, will pop open the other door and leave it slightly ajar (at least the fridge has a door alarm – even though it takes a few minutes to sound). But generally, if you conscientiously close the doors, they work well. The water tastes great.

I love the look of this fridge along with my other new Kitchenaide appliances in my remodelled kitchen. The guys came and installed my fridge. The handles are not tight and I was told this was a manufacturer problem... not good for the price paid! I am planning to call and see if new handles could be installed for an improvement.
