  • Features
    • Hard Food Disposer: false (This feature has blades to chop and disintegrate hard food particles, making them small enough to easily drain away. This prevents them from being recirculated back onto dishware and allows for easy maintenance.)
    • Drying Method: Heated drying (Appliances that use heat to dry the dishes will include a heating element or minerals which transform moisture into heat. A fan or vent then circulates the hot dry air throughout the tub during the drying cycle. This may reduce drying time and the risk of water spots. Appliances that use minerals to produce heat are considered more energy efficient than those that include a heating element. Appliances that use condensation drying are considered more energy efficient than those that use heated drying. Instead, high temperature water is produced during the final rinse cycle which warms the interior and eventually condensates and drains out of the machine.)

Q: We are debating between this DW and the Bosch 500 series, which was what we previously owned and loved. This DW is 39 db vs 44 dv for the Bosch. Is there a significant detectable difference in sound? Does this DW have the pop open door air dry feature?

A: I did extensive research on dishwashers, Bosch 500/800 and KitchenAid have the least amount of repair calls. But, all makes do get their fair amount. I went to Best Buy to get the Bosch 500, they were actually out of stock and it was on back order for 3 more months. I ended up getting the KitchenAid KDTE204KPS, this is the next down from pop open door. It was on sale for $854.99. Super quiet, and dries dishes very well. 3rd rack on top is shallow, just for flatware. Next one up does have deeper third rack. Very pleased with this dishwasher and would recommend to others to buy. I previously had a 46 dB Whirlpool. To answer your question, It was quiet too, but not a huge difference between the Whirlpool and new KitchenAid @ 39 dB.

Q: Are there options for the door handles? I don't like the red ends shown in the picture.

A: Yes, there are two (2) other color options for the medallions at each end of the handle. The dishwasher ONLY comes with all red medallions. The optional colors can be purchased separately for less than ten bucks a pair as follows: Chrome with Red Lettering (Part Number W10846205), and Black with Red Lettering (Part Number W10846206). You can look for these part numbers on the internet. The handle and the medallions can be removed and reinstalled with an allen wrench. If you don't like any of the optional medallion colors, you can always remove and paint the medallions that come with the dishwasher.

Q: How do i clean the filter on this?

A: Every 1-3 months pull out the bottom tray, grasp the Filter Cup & rotate it 1/4 turn counterclockwise & remove, then remove filter plate. Rinse both under cold water or use a soft brush to remove any food stuff. Reseat Filter Plate under tabs, install Filter Cup into Filter Plate opening & rotate clockwise until it clicks into place.

Q: Does this model have leak detection?

A: Hello. Thank you for your inquiry. Upon further research, none of our Dishwashers have a leak detection feature. We hope this information helps.

Q: How long is shortest cycle?

A: About 1 hr. In express with heated dry

Q: Hi, I see a white insulation blanket around the machine on your website. Ours don't have it. When I questioned, the installer from Best buy said, the insulation does not come around the machine and is located inside. Is that correct? Our model KDTE204KPS

A: IDK Best Buy installed mine and my machine had NO insulation at all. It was lacking the blanket, the insulation at toe front panel as well as the heavy insulation on the lower sides and rear. I'm certain the installers tossed it all. I'm angry because I paid for this new machine and I feel it is loud. I called Best Buy and got them to order me the insulation blanket, but it doesn't cover the rear and it thinner than the ones I've seen in Kitchenaid install videos. I also got them to order the toe trim panel ones. I'm still missing the side and rear ones that go around the bottom portion.

    SO QUIET!!!!!!!

We replaced our 20+ year old dishwasher with this and it’s night and day. It’s in order of magnitude quieter! The third tray is a revelation. The door feels very premium when opening and closing, and the trays feel smooth when pulling them in and out. It dries quite well, and I’m having no issue with it drying the third tray when one does the extended dry option. I’m loving the multiple delay options so it can just do its thing overnight. It’s super easy to use, and I couldn’t be happier with this purchase.

Exactly what I was looking for!

I’ve had this dishwasher for about a month now. It’s incredibly quiet and does a beautiful job with my dishes! They come out so dry (my other dishwasher left most of my dishes so soaking wet each time). The top third rack is super cool, you can’t fit too much up there but I do love it. I also love that you can move the second tier up and down to fit your needs! It’s exactly what I was looking for!

    Best dishwasher we’ve ever had!

This dishwasher is the best we have ever owned. We love 3 drawers. The best part is that all of our old glasses and glass lids that had water stains on them are completely spotless and look brand new! Absolutely amazing! It’s so quiet you have to stay very still near it to hear it. We replaced our old kitchenaid dishwasher that we had from 2004! It finally broke after 19 years. Was a great dishwasher also so we will definitely stay with the kitchenaid brand. Cannot beat the lifetime value for the price.
