I recently had the ovens serviced for a issue not related to self clean and the technician felt the overwhelming need to tell me all the bad things that often go wrong with self clean. Most of the negative reviews are associated with self clean.

Right before a dinner party, my 16 year-old JennAire double convection oven malfunctioned to the point where we turned off the power to it. Over the years, we used it for roasts, loaves and loaves of bread and dozens of cookies and casseroles. We researched double ovens, read reviews and stumped around to different stores to see what was available. With a special price and a deal for free installation, we decided on the KitchenAid and I'm glad we did. Compared to my old oven, this one is eerily quiet. You really can't hear the fans - just a faint whistling sound and, since it's still fairly new, some creaking and settling noises. I haven't used the express pre-heat feature - but it only takes 15 minutes or so for the oven to heat up. I've used the proofing feature - it's great when the kitchen is too cold for bread to rise normally. Bread, cookies, muffins and tarts have come out perfectly done. It's very entertaining to turn on the oven light - almost like a theater! Because the window is so large, I have been cleaning it once a week. You wouldn't want gunk to build up on it and spoil the show. General cleanup is easy - but that's probably because I've been wiping up any spills right after baking. Some minor annoyances - the oven light turns on both ovens. You should be able to turn them on separately. Also, there's only one timer - there should be separate timers for each oven. All-in-all, I've been very happy with this oven...and can recommend it to anyone who enjoys baking at home.

I'm enjoying my new ovens! I have only made cookies so far, but they both heated evenly and as expected. I had the same set in a prior home and had an excellent experience with those so went with the same Kitchenaid brand when my old GE Profile (circa 2008) double wall ovens went kaput in this house. I love the look and function of these ovens. For the money, they look and act like higher-end equipment. The digital display at the top is very easy to use, even without instruction. And the blue interior makes me smile whenever I open the oven door. I love the slide out top rack, too. Great set.

The oven has worked great so far. Bakes evenly and wasn't hard to figure out how to use. It's quieter than my 18 year old kitchen aid it replaced. My only complaint would be that it protrudes out from the opening. I didn't realize there was an additional flush mount kit that I needed to order to get it flush like the old one. Best Buy doesn't sell the kit so they wouldn't have installed it that way anyway I guess although it is a safety concern. The part of the door that sticks out is obviously hot to the touch. Would have done it differently if I had known about the kit.
