Not worth the money - AquaLift does not work

    Frustrated

I'm a first time KitchenAid owner and only bought this appliance because I need an oven with a self cleaning feature. Was recommended by the store sales person as being a good product. Bought it and 2nd day after it was delivered, the ignition broke and cannot start the stove. Waited over 2 weeks to get the part and was replaced. A few months later the oven light went out. Waited again another week or so for a replacement bulb. Then, when it was time to clean the oven using the AquaLift cleaning technology, it didn't work at all. Followed the instructions to the word but to no avail. Even the tiny grease spot won't come out as described in the User Guide. Terrible disclosure on the part of the manufacturer and seller. Called KitchenAid and Best Buy to exchange for another model that has a self cleaning feature that has been tested and really works, but got nowhere. I'm very disappointed and frustrated with this purchase and wish someone from either Best Buy or KitchenAid would be brave enough to check this appliance and see for themselves what the real problem is. I have owned a few other brands and never had an issue with the self cleaning feature. This is by far the worse and needless to say I'm not buying any KitchenAid product or shop at Best Buy.

We purchased this range along with a KMHC319ESS convection microwave and a KDTE204ESS1 dishwasher for a kitchen remodel in our new home. We spent many hours researching options and it came down to the KitchenAid units or a comparable set from Bosch. We chose the KitchenAid units, what a mistake that has turned out to be... First, about a month after the year warranty was up, the microwave stopped working and displayed an error stating the door was open when it was closed. Ended up having to take it apart and replace several micro switches and two fuses. Then about a month after that when trying to use the oven, we got an error that the oven fan speed was to low and the oven will not work. We can't even use the timer..... Replaced the fan ($70), but that didn't seem to fix the issue, so I just ordered the main control board, hopefully that $280 bucks will take care of the problem. And now the button to start the dishwasher is acting up, have to press it about a half dozen times for it to actually start. Someone else mentioned in another review that these KitchenAid units look nice, I agree, but it seems they are just not built like you would expect for the money.....

The product looks good. But honestly, the oven feature has not been consistent. I have had this for 10 months, the oven lights keep burning out (I'm on my 4th set now). and now the Fan in the Oven stopped working which shut everything down. Service is coming out to replace the $700.00 part (and I'm lucky to be under warranty)... but is a hassle to deal with, not to mention not being able to use the oven. Another user-friendly note. When you use the timer, if you don't get it 'just right' you have to cancel the pre-heat and turn the oven back on. It would have been nice to be able to cancel the timer without having to turn off the oven.

I'm happy with this purchase for the most part. I like the large oven, with the very large window and good lighting. The burners are very powerful. I don't like the black cook top area since it shows every speck of debris, so be ready to wipe clean every time. You must use a soft sponge or cloth because it scratches the finish, which is shiny. The grates are heavy and there are only two so removing them to clean underneath is a two-handed job. If you have the oven and all burners on at the same time be prepared to have a lot of heat coming from the stove, so a powerful range hood that vents to the outside is highly recommended. Overall, the stove is very attractive and although not easy to keep clean, I would probably buy it again.

Broken and nearly impossible to schedule service

The oven failed the very first time I tried to use it, producing an obscure error code and shutting down. It was unfortunately not even possible to schedule repairs because the website for doing so was down for two days and the customer services representatives reachable by phone evidently use the same computer system for scheduling repairs. At this point, I have invested two and one half hours on the phone over a period of two days merely trying to schedule warranty service on a brand new defective oven. On the bright side, it does look nice. If you are buying it to make your kitchen look nice but don't actually ever plan to use it, then this is the one you want!

This suite of KitchenAid appliances look great, but the performance is dismal. We have had the range about a year and I was disappointed from the start. The performance of the oven is very uneven - everything take much longer than it should to cook, the front panel gets dangerously hot when you have the oven at a high temp, when you turn the timer off, the oven goes off too. What? Was this product tested by people who actually cook? Also, even the stainless steel is of poor quality - I have had stainless in the past, and loved them, but these don't look good, even right after cleaning. If you are a serious or frequent cook, keep looking.

I did a lot of research and visited a lot of ranges, deciding on this one due to the simple sleek design. I'm looking forward to seeing how the steaming feature works when baking. So far it cooks evenly and I've had no problems. I installed it myself, using the special glue for gas lines. Leveling was not an issue. It takes longer to preheat than my old range, though I think it's because of the larger oven volume. I like that the top is black, so I won't have yellowing stainless steel from the heat.

We have been wanting a gas range ever since we purchased our home. This one does not disappoint. I did a ton of research before purchasing, especially since we were trying to buy an entire matching suite of appliances. We wanted everything to be top notch. This range pre-heats quickly, is easy to clean and easy to use. It the range works great and the oven has both standard and convection options (both work great). The black stainless is absolutely stunning - just make sure you use a soft cloth when cleaning to avoid damaging the surface and don't use stainless steel cleaner it is to abrasive. Overall I can't recommend this oven enough. You will love cooking with it.
