Description
Features
FreeFlex third rack
The largest third rack available has a deep, angled design that fits 6" glasses, mugs, and bowls.
It features rotating wash jets to clean items in the rack, a drying bar with tabs that help wick moisture off glasses, and a removable utensil tray for cooking tools (among leading brands based on usable volume).
44dBA
Provides quiet cleaning without compromising performance, so there's no need to wait to run a wash cycle while entertaining and enjoying meals, even in open concept kitchens.
Advanced Clean Water Wash system
Uses microfiltration to continuously remove food particles during the wash and rinse cycles and circulates clean water to dishes in all three racks. This allows dirty cookware and delicate glassware to be washed together in the same load.
ProWash cycle
Uses sensors to measure soil levels throughout the cycle and adapts wash time and water temperature as needed for tough messes or lighter loads because no two meals or the dishes that result are exactly the same.
PrintShield™ finish
Resists smudges and fingerprints. The specialized coating for stainless steel is easy-to-clean with just water and a soft cloth, so you can spend more time cooking and less time cleaning up the kitchen.
Adjustable middle rack
Adds flexibility to fit tall items, such as a stand mixer bowl. Lower the rack to place large dishes inside, or raise it to make room for platters, pitchers, blender jars and more in the rack below.
Extended ProDry™ option
Extends the ProDry™ cycle time by 15 minutes for loads that need extra drying time.
Durable stainless steel interior
Offers the beauty and benefits of stainless steel inside the dishwasher. It resists streaks, stains, and odors while retaining heat to help improve drying.
SatinGlide® rails in third and middle racks
Allow racks to move effortlessly even when fully loaded.
Adjustable rows in middle and lower racks
Fold down to make room for dishes in a variety of shapes and sizes, such as roasting pans, serving bowls, colanders, and dutch ovens.
Four stemware holders in middle rack
Secure wine glasses along the side of the rack to prevent them from moving around during the wash cycle.
Express wash cycle
Cleans in less time so you always have the dishes you need while prepping, cooking, and entertaining.
Sani-rinse option
Eliminates most of food soil bacteria.
Top controls
Controls are tucked away on top of the dishwasher door for a clean look to match your kitchen style. The indicator light on the front of the door changes colors to subtly display the cycle progress.
The dishwasher hookup kit is sold separately and is not included.

Great Buy!
||Posted .This is our first Kitchenaid and we waited 6 months to buy the right dishwasher. We did a lot of research and I’m very satisfied with this purchase. The buttons cover well so the kids can’t see it or play with it. It’s very quiet I almost have to listen to make sure it’s on. The dark stainless steel looks beautiful! Very happy!

Best dishwasher ever owned so far
||Posted .Owned for 1 week when reviewed. We have owned multiple dishwashers over the years and can honestly say that this Kitchenaid puts them all to shame. We have only had it a week, so can’t speak about the longevity. However, here are the pros so far: 1) so quiet you literally have to look to see if its on and our kitchen and living area are open; 2) seems very substantial in construction, e.g. door is much heavier than previous dishwashers; 3) really holds lots of dirty dishes, especially with the third rack; and 4) cleans the dishes really well. My only cons: doesn’t dry as well as I had hoped unless the pro dry option is selected; 2) not much flexibility for adjusting tines on bottom tray; and 3) I really dislike the silverware basket, it is way too large, taking up valuable space for dishes, and it cannot be split into two smaller individual baskets. I really think Kitchenaid needs to look at changing this to be more flexible. Overall, I am very satisfied with this product and would definitely recommend it to others.

Lots of options with this dishwasher.
||Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.I have only used the dishwasher once since it was installed, and it was very quiet compared to my previous dishwasher. It just takes longer to run a cycle. I have to learn more about the dishwasher, because the installers didn't inform me on how to use it.

Not Satisfied
||Posted .Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This is my third KitchenAid dishwasher and the most noisy one my last KitchenAid you had to go up to it with your ear to see if it was running this one two rooms away from it and you can hear it for the noise it makes I would not recommend it should’ve waited for a Bosch, You also can see the hidden control panel.

GREAT, GREAT DISHWASHER
||Posted .Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. After buying this dishwasher to replace a 4-year old dishwasher that did not dry or clean, I am amazed at how well this dishwasher cleans and dries, but also has 3 racks. I love, love this dishwasher and the 3-rack feature. I use all 3 racks, and it great to have so much space. It is unbelievable at how well it cleans & dries. It is also very quiet. I also like the delay feature, so I can run it later at night. I never thought dishwashing could be so fun and also has saved my back pain! Highly recommend!!!

Q: QuestionComparing the KDTM704KPS and the KDTM804KPS on the KitchenAid website, there appears to be zero differences in features and functionality. It was mentioned somewhere that the 804 had a knife basket. Surely that can't account for $400 price difference?
Asked by Kixo.
- A:Answer Another vendor has a great breakdown of all the levels of the models, but there is an unlabeled version on the KitchenAid website, https://www.kitchenaid.com/major-appliances/dishwashers/third-rack.html (under STYLE Make it your own). Each includes the feature(s) of the lower level(s) plus the additional feature for that level. 404 = FreeFlex Third Rack 604 = Fan-Enabled ProDry System 704 = LED Interior Lighting 804 = Stainless Interior Accents

Q: QuestionI've looked at the kitchenAid Model# KDTM404KPS and see that you sell the kitchenAid Model# KDTM604KPS for $100 more than the KDTM404KPS at Home Depot. What's the difference in the KDTM404KPS and KDTM04KPS
Asked by ScubaGranny.
- A:Answer I was compare shopping the 404KPS and 604KPS. The big difference I saw was the "Pro-dry" feature on the 604KPS. We spent the $100 and got the 604KPS. My wife says the Pro-Dry is worth the money. She says it works very well. It dries much better than any dishwasher we have ever had.

Q: QuestionDoes it have a food grinder for hard particles? Is the filter removable for cleaning?
Asked by techno.
- A:Answer Hi techno. This KitchenAid® Dishwasher does not have a food grinder. You are able to remove the filter for cleaning.

Q: QuestionAfter the whole cycle is finished, the drying fan keeps running until I open the door. Online is says this should only last 50 minutes, but after 2 hours the fan still runs, blowing cold air. Is this normal or does it just run until you open the door?
Asked by Leal.
- A:Answer So I finally got in touch with someone at kitchenaid that was able to at least provide me some information. She said that the fan can run up to 8 hours after wash was completed or until the door is opened. I don’t think I have tried it for that long so I will let it hit 8 hrs and see if it turns off and report back

Q: Questioncan you remove third rack Flex Free
Asked by Maggie.
- A:Answer Yes, you can remove both upper racks and the middle one can be moved up and down. The very top rack has a utensil rack that can also be removed. We cook a lot, and both my husband and I love the way this machine loads. The company clearly has put a lot of thought into it.
Answered by Ellen
Q: QuestionDoes it have a handle or not? The model shown here shows a pocket handle, and the Kitchenaid website shows it with the bar handle.
Asked by PaulC.
- A:Answer Two different models of the same machine. One has a pocket handle and this model has a professional look bar handle with top controls.

Q: Questioncan I use this dishwasher if I only have cold water access?
Asked by honey.
- A:Answer The manual states the following: "The dishwasher has a water heating feature and also requires a connection to a hot water supply line."
Answered by Pops
Q: QuestionHow often do you have to clean the filter? Or is there a self-cleaning filter like the former KDTM354ESS?
Asked by RPMM.
- A:Answer Hi RPMM. The pump is protected from large objects entering it by the foreign object cup in the front and below the lower rack. The maintenance free filter system does not require any regular cleaning or maintenance. If this cup fills up with particles or objects, depress the tab in the center and pull up on the cup to remove it. Dispose of the contents and then replace the cup. To replace the cup, put into the opening and push down to lock in place. You can access the product help and demo pages for this unit by going to the following link: http://bit.ly/3eiskvp
