Great zoom for capturing nature
||Posted .I particularly like three things about the Nikon B700: the long zoom which brings birds and other wildlife in close; the seamless way photos get tagged with location data when they are transferred to a smartphone; and the relatively small size of the camera. Shortcomings: you will need a tripod for stabilizing the camera when shooting at its longest zoom focal length, and because the lens' widest aperture is limited in "Auto" shooting mode the camera tends to select very slow shutter speeds when taking indoor shots. Overall, lots of features packed into a relatively light and easily held package, and Nikon quality too.

Photos
||Posted .This Nikon B 700 is fun and takes great photos. Zoom is good and I like not having to change the lense. The weight is good. I have taken over 3000 photos so far. The wi-fi works but I don’t use it enough to remember how to use it. I can get good close ups and distant photos when I zoom. You have to get use to when it is zoomed out all the way because you shake some so usually I just take several photos until I get one right but I am getting better.

My third digital. Happy so far!
||Posted .This is my third digital camera. I am delighted with it so far. It does so much, it will take weeks of reading and testing to learn about it, but in the mean time "Auto" works fine. Recent shots of the moon were dramatic with full zoom. My only regret is that it takes a special battery. I was used to carrying spare AAs. NIkon hit a home run with this one.

Great camera for wildlife photos.
||Posted .I was looking for a super zoom point and shoot camera for wildlife photos and vacations. I was tired of lugging my Canon SLR and additional lenses on hikes, and never took it in my kayak. The 60x optical zoom is great, but you need to be very steady at longer zoom distances. Photos came out great, fabulous close ups of bear in Shenandoah National Park, and loon on Squam Lake in NH. Nikon has a larger zoom at 83x, but that camera was much larger, bulkier and heavier. The B700 was just what I was looking for.

Great camera w great zoom.
||Posted .Loved the coolpix s9100. But this is a step toward DSLR type control including view finder, articulated LCD and RAW output. Fits in my hands and takes great bird shots without fussing with different lenses. Now have to learn how to use all the relevant features.

Excellent camera for anyone
||Posted .This camera has the best of both worlds, it has a clear picture and a great zoom ability without going to the next level of camera. With the Nikon app having the pictures automatically download to your phone is a great feature

Good beginner camera
Posted .I bought this for my 14 year old son who is really into photography and wanted a much longer zoom than our 300mm D-SLR lens could offer. The photo quality is a bit inferior to a D-SLR (think excellent iPhone quality) but the zoom capability is great and he has had a lot of fun playing around with the features and loves not carrying around different lenses. If you’re looking for a good all-around camera for “fun” and social media, this is great. If you’re nit-picky about image sensor size and quality when zoomed in 800% in Photoshop or Lightroom, get a D-SLR kit.

Great camera for someone just starting to take pic
||Posted .Very good even if you just use the automatics settings. Personalizing the settings is also a great option and learning tool.

Q: QuestionWhat is the battery life like in hours with the B700? I am taking a trip soon and looking for a camera that will last on long hikes and sight seeing trips. Also are you able to use Adobe Lightroom to edit photos taken in RAW format?
Asked by jbanner.
- A:Answer You can't simply rate the battery on hours or number of photos. The number of times you turn it on and off, zoom, and view your photos all use battery life. I can tell you that I used mine on a trip to the Amazon and Galapagos where I took over 2300 Photos and several videos. I had the camera on for a couple hours a day and took 150 to 300 photos each day with zooming in or out on each one. I only had to replace the battery once in the field. I did have the opportunity to partially charge the battery in the middle of the day most of the time. I would always recommend a spare battery. I found two batteries and charger on Amazon for about $15.00.

Q: QuestionWhat is the battery life like?
Asked by Taylor.
- A:Answer I shot over 700 photos yesterday and this is still going strong. I have it set for shutting off after one minute and I'm thinking that makes the difference. I had a second battery with me just in case, but didn't need it. Pretty awesome, I'd say :)

Q: QuestionDoes the EVF have a proximity sensor to automatically switch off the LCD when I place my eye up to the EVF?
Asked by GForce.
- A:Answer The Nikon COOLPIX B700 digital camera has an EVF Auto Toggle switch that can be turned on and off in the Setting Menu. Turning it to the "Off" setting will let you bring your face close to the viewfinder without triggering the EVF. Placing the setting back to "On" will allow the eye sensor to respond to your close proximity and trigger the camera to switch from the monitor to the viewfinder.

Q: QuestionI've been looking at the P900 but the reviews say that printing of photos is not good beyond a 4x6. How good is printing quality of photos taken with the B700, and how does the zoom compare with the P900?
Asked by Judy.
- A:Answer I chose the B700 for several reasons: 1. The B700 is 20mp instead of 16mp for the P900, so that's a plus. 2. The B700 can shoot in RAW, which gives you better "raw" pictures. That will really help the quality of the output (prints) 3. The P900 is 83x zoom, while the B700 is 'only' 60x, but both are incredibly long, so it didn't matter to me. 4. The B700 shoots 4k video which I like.

Q: QuestionIt says to buy two memory cards...one is ultra, and one is extreme...don't I just need one?
Asked by CA.
- A:Answer The terms "Ultra" and "Extreme" are used by memory card vendors to distinguish the different series of their card products. When purchasing memory cards it is more important to understand the details below than the terms Ultra and Extreme. The Nikon B700 camera supports SD, SDHC, and SDXC cards. These terms or labels are defined in the industry-standard SD memory card specification documents. SD (Secure Digital) cards can store up to 2GB of data, SDHC (SD High Capacity) cards can store from 2GB to 32GB of data, and SDXC (SD Extended Capacity) can store 32GB up to 2TB of data. The larger the capacity, the more images can be stored on a single card. However, if the camera is set to take pictures at its highest resolution, the number of pictures that can be stored on a single card will be smaller than when the camera is set to take lower resolution pictures. For use in the B700 the SD card should have a speed class rating of 6 or above. The speed class is noted on the typical SD card with a symbol in the shape of a "C" with a number inside the letter. Class 10 cards are about the fastest cards available today. When purchasing memory cards for this camera, larger capacity SDHC and SDXC cards each with a Class 10 speed rating are the most cost effective for storing images. Having an additional card available when the card in the camera is full is always a good idea.

Q: Questionin the macro mode and a closeup of .4 to inf what zoom are you able to achieve.
Asked by bob.
- A:Answer When the B700 is set to Macro focusing it is at the wide end of the camera's zoom range. It will not macro focus to 0.4 inches past that.
Answered by NikonStaff
Q: Questionis there a closeup lens adapter for the b700
Asked by bob.
- A:Answer The COOLPIX B700 - when placed in the camera's Macro Mode - has a close-up range or 0.4 inches to infinity. It does not require, nor does it have available, a close-up lens adapter.
