Super Smooth & Awesome Results!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am upgrading from an Oral B pro 3000 to the Oral B IO 8 and have loved using Oral B for many years! The main reason I chose the Oral B platform was my dentist recommended it. I also did a lot of web research and decided on Oral B as the best in class. Oral B did not disappoint as was evidenced by the cavity free reports I get year after year from my dentist. My gum health also improved and remains healthy due to oral B awesome technology and I truly believe the rounded head really lets me work each tooth to maximize the cleaning. It’s amazing to watch the technology improve and move into these once static toothbrushes. From their long lasting lithium ion batteries to phone apps to maximize your oral health! Awesome. Unboxing the toothbrush revealed an elegant and stunningly beautiful unit. The violet Ametrine color is just beautiful! I removed it from the box and immediately noticed how great it felt in my hand. Oral B tweaked the handle ever so subtly to really make it feel natural in my hand. Maybe slightly tapered at the base of the handle. It’s subtle but noticeable. I also love how light it is in my hand. It feels like a feather from my old Oral B 3000. I removed the charging base from the box. It’s magnetic!!! Which I love. With the magnetic base it’s so much easier to pick up and return to the charging unit. I also appreciate that ithe charging base and power cord are black in color instead of the clinical white color. It looks more elegant on the bathroom counter. I let it charge and a cool blue LED lit up face of the brush. I also downloaded the app which was super easy. After a quick charge I turned it on and it asked me for the langue and default color for the neck of the brush led. I found the violet/purple color irresistible and loved how the color played off each other with the Violet Ametrine handle, just really beautiful. The brush synced to my phone very quickly and then the brush and app wanted to “learn” my brush pattern! Yup…AI. Super cool!!! The app is very useful in visualizing and helping me focus on my brushing. After oohing and awing over the tech, I could not wait to feel how the experience would be. The first word that came to my mind was that the brush felt “super smooth”. I mean so much smoother than my old Oral B. It’s also quiet but does not sacrifice power to be so smooth and quiet. It’s like an expensive sports car… it’s super powerful and fast but doesn’t vibrate the heck out of you! In the oral B IO Series 8 they moved to a new brush head from the old Oral B units. It allows for what they call micro vibrating bristles. It’s a huge improvement that must be felt to believed! My teeth have never been cleaner! It feels like I just left a dental office cleaning. I also love the timing feature so you know you get the two minutes the dentist wants. I tried all 6 brush modes and settled on “sensitive”. That feels the best for me. I also love the pressure sensor as well. My dentist mentioned how important that is so you do not damage your gums! Oral B finishes off this awesome toothbrush with an awesome case for it too. One place you don’t want to be skimp is on the health of you teeth and gums! Do you self a favor and grab one of these! I highly recommend this brush!!!!

Sexy, smart toothbrush for adults.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Oral-B iO8 is by far the fanciest smart toothbrush I've ever used or seen. In fact, it's the only smart toothbrush I've used, as I've had electric sonic toothbrushes for years, but never one that connected to my phone with an app. It comes at a hefty price point, but considering the costs of dental care it's not a bad trade off for upgrading your daily oral care routine. Plus you can even change the rechargeable battery! However, as great as this toothbrush is, if you have a small mouth or trouble opening wide, this might not be the ideal one for you. Let's get into the details. FUNCTION The iO8 reminds me of the toothbrush dentists use with the round spinning brush head. It's thorough and efficient with a really vigorous brushing action in the + mode cycles (I love that each cycle has an extra strength + mode). It can be used with or without the app, but why spend the money for a smart brush without using all it's features? I honestly thought it was a bit silly having an app connected toothbrush, but I've come to really enjoy tracking my brushing patterns and getting closer to the dental goal I set in it. In the app you can choose between 6 different brushing cycles, track your brushing patterns and time, set oral care goals, and can even have it automatically reorder brush heads when it's time for a replacement. If you forget to keep your phone with you while you're brushing, no worries, the brush saves the data and updates automatically the next time you connect. If you brush too hard it'll let you know, and it has an optional pulse that goes off every 30 seconds signifying when to move to a new section. DESIGN By far the coolest looking toothbrush I've had. The body is about the size of most major electric toothbrushes, but it has a cool, colorful screen built in that smiles when you turn it on. The shape is sleek, with a magnetic charger that holds the brush in place surprisingly well and the screen greets you with the battery charge level and a smiley face when you turn it on. The screen is bright, and the fit and finish of the entire unit is superb. The only gripe I have is that the replaceable brush head has a thicker stem than I'm used to so it feels a bit cumbersome, like a finger in my mouth. My previous electric toothbrush had a thinner stem that was much more comfortable, but I have a smaller mouth so this is likely a personal issue. After about a week of usage, it's gotten a lot more comfortable though not as much as my old one. I'm sticking with it though, because it feels like it does a better job cleaning. VALUE Yeah, it's not cheap. In the box, the iO8 comes with a hard travel case, 3 brush heads, a charger, and the brush body. It's enough to keep going for almost a whole year before needing refills. One feature that stands out to me is that the rechargeable battery seems to be user replaceable, so you won't have to trash the entire unit when the battery goes bad. That'll save some cash in the long run, not to mention a better clean and hopefully less dental visits and procedures.

Such An Amazing Toothbrush!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Hands down, this is the best toothbrush I've ever used. I was already impressed with my Oral-B SmartGuide I purchased back in 2014 (and I still used it up until now), but the new iQ 8 Series is just on a whole 'nother level. Let me count the ways: 1) Power - The sheer power output of this thing makes it feel like it's going to plow away plaque, rip your gums out and sheer the enamel off your teeth. Okay, maybe not that intense. There's a "I just had my teeth cleaned at the dentist" feeling after every use. 2) Performance - The design of the head and bristles makes it easy to clean along the gum line, in between teeth and way in the back. You'll definitely feel the difference when you're brushing along the gum line! 3) Intelligence - There are a lot of smarts built into this thing, but my favorite is the applied pressure monitoring; push too hard and a ring of light glows red, too soft and it glows blue and just the right amount glows green. The prior Oral-B I owned just monitored for too much pressure. I'm starting to realize that I haven't been putting enough pressure, especially in the back teeth! The other aspects that a tech savvy user will appreciate are the Bluetooth connectivity and the Oral-B app. Here you will be able to go through toothbrush training as well as goal settings like fresher breath or whiter teeth. Also, the app will remind you to replace the brush head after 3 months. That being said, I've learned that in order for you to take advantage of the app offerings, you have to have it open and actively connected to the toothbrush. I'm old skool man...I just want to brush my teeth in the morning and night. It would be nice if it could gather metrics automatically so I can monitor my habits without having to connect to the app. But I'm not gonna dock points for that. Every user is different. I have to say that I did encounter some sensitivity during the first few days of use. It's just that poweful and it's cleaning performance does not disappoint. There is a sensitive setting for those that are transitioning from an elbow grease toothbrush or even an older electric brush. You can slowly work your way up to the normal+ modes long term.

THEY MAKE SMART TOOTHBRUSHES NOW? & THEY R AWESOME
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You can find my full review of this product on YouTube here (https://youtu.be/S7p4LksTaK0) BUILD QUALITY/AESTHETICS: For the toothbrush itself. It is very well balanced and lightweight. On the top of the device you have a removeable brush head which have multiple different options which vary in price and function. It takes a light/moderate amount of pressure to remove. Once placed it leaves a small gap before you get to the LED. This is the LED that shows you if you are applying too much, too little, or just right amount of pressure. The LED can be white, blue, turquoise, pink, yellow, or orange. On the front of the device you have a shiny gloss material and in the middle of that closs is a nice colored screen that shows a lot of detail. Above that is the power button and below that is the multifunction button which are a matte grey and take a moderate amount of force to actuate with a crisp tactile click. So, you may be asking yourself. Well, that sounds great and all but how the heck do I charge it? That is where the magnetic charging stand comes into place. It uses a recharge lithium ion battery. I would say you may be able to get about 5 days of use out of it before needing to recharge. I didn’t specifically test this as you should be charging it every night. I have charged it for the past two nights and with me messing around with it while writing this review it still has 80% battery left. The magnetic charging stand is a small circular device that is a matte grey/black with a slight bump in the middle. When you put your toothbrush near it you can start to feel a slight magnetic pull and then you just plop it on the stand and it starts to charge wirelessly. It is quite stable and looks super sleek and futuristic. What a time to be alive. Never thought that I would use the words “wireless charging for a smart toothbrush”. *mind blown. The charger plugs directly into an outlet and can’t be removed which is a bit of a bummer. It takes about 3 hours to fully charge. On the bottom of the device it has three prongs which can be used to unscrew the lithium battery from the device when you are going to dispose of it. Some other random features. It is motion sensitive which means when you pick it up it will say good morning or good night. If you haven’t selected a particular program and you press the multifunction dial it will cycle through the six settings (daily clean, sensitive, whiten, gum care, intense, super sensitive, and then settings. If you have selected a program, (in my case whitening) and press the multifunction dial the first option that will pop up is your current preset, the second press will bring you to daily clean, the third to settings. If you press the power button on settings it will take you to another screen to enable or disable Bluetooth which you can do by pressing the power button. Next is the light ring cycling through those colors. Third is the language. Fourth is factory reset. Fifth is go back. Which means most of the main settings will be located on your cell phone through the Oral-B App. Inside the Oral-B App the first thing you are greeted with is your smile… well a representation of it anyways. Which shows your last brushing and where you had overpressure or anything else. It also gives a little coaching section on how you can improve. If you swipe right it will go to the program you are currently on. If you swipe right again it will show you when you applied a new head (which you put in manually) and the date that you should replace it. Which is nice. You can also setup automatic renewals where they will send you a new brush when yours is getting ready to be replaced. On the bottom if you select history it will show you your score average. The next option is challenges for you achievement hunters out there. Last you have the “more” option which will allow you to change some settings. It also comes with a very cool travel case. Which is made out of plastic. In snaps shut easily and then takes quite a bit of force to open which means it won’t open up in your bag. It then has a slot for your toothbrush and two heads. PROS: - Lightweight sleek design. - Battery life - Smart functions - Replaceable heads - Charging stand - Smart app - Honestly pretty much everything about the device. CONS: - I wish it had a dedicated on/off button that wasn’t always motion activated. As I’m a control freak. - I wish they would have added a third button as sometimes when I’m going through settings I accidently turn on the brush head. - Expensive. - I wish this one came with the tongue cleaning mode and would have forgone another mode. CONCLUSION: I have been brushing my teeth with a normal toothbrush for ages. Gotten pretty good at it if I do say so myself… you know after years of practice twice daily. To the point where when I went in for a cleaning I got excellent marks and very little cleaning was needed except for the bottom mid portion of the mouth that is my problem spot. Now, I’m not bringing this up to brag but to say even though I take my brushing very seriously this toothbrush has brought me to a whole new level and the best way to explain what my teeth feel like after I brush is like I just got home from the dentist after a cleaning. It is dramatically better than even my best brushings with a normal tooth brush. Even my problem spot is dramatically cleaner with a lot less plaque. I’ve noticed my teeth are also a bit whiter and this is only after a short while of using it. Brushing my teeth has now gone from a chore to something that I almost look forward to. As using the tooth brush is fun, and since I’m an incredibly competitive person, each time I brush I get to compete against myself to do better than last time. The lasting benefits of this is that my teeth are cleaner and healthier. Which is good since we only get one set of them in a lifetime and I think they are worth investing in. So, do I recommend this toothbrush. Absolutely. I know I won’t be going back to normal brushing.

It’s a super tooth cleaning machine!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In short it’s the best toothbrush I have ever used. It doesn't appear to miss anything when used correctly. You can feel the clean. I would recommend it on that alone. Out of the box it had 50% of charge when I powered it up. The manual that comes with it gives you an overview of how to set it up and use it. It Explains what the brushing modes are and how to select them. Then there’s an App that you can download and use with the iO toothbrush via Bluetooth. I can’t review that feature because I was unable to get the app to talk to my toothbrush. It paired it with my phone (Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus). It took me 3 tries to pair. The app said it couldn’t find the toothbrush even though it was paired and connected. I unpaired and re-paired the toothbrush. No go. Uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Still no go. Got online and looked for help. Went to Oral B’s site among other places. No luck. Reading over other reviews before writing mine, I see I’m not alone with this problem. No matter. You Do Not need the app to use the toothbrush. From what I can tell, the app is primarily for keeping track of usage and when to replace brush heads. If you don’t plan on using the app, or can’t like me, then just leave bluetooth off. There’s a ring around the top of the power handle where you put the brush head. It changes color as you increase pressure on your teeth. Blue for no pressure (idle), Green for the right amount and Red for too much pressure. I have to look in the mirror to see it. If you twist the brush head’s bristle area you can see that a rod inside the body of the brush head reciprocates. I’m guessing that the modes listed below use a combination of pressure levels and how far the piston at the end of the power handle mount extends in the brush head body. The farther it extends, the greater the amount of rotation. You press the lower (Mode) button to run though the brushing modes and settings. Use the Power button to select a mode or setting. Settings are shown in the display. Modes are Daily Clean, Sensitive, Gum Care, Intense Clean, Super Sensitive and Tongue Clean. The manual gives a description of each mode. When brushing it will “stutter” every 30 seconds to remind you to change your mouth quadrant and how long you’ve been brushing. It wants you to brush for 2 minutes and if you don’t it displays a face that ranges from frowning (under 2 minutes) to happy for 2 minutes and above. Apparently the App aids with how to brush, where to bush, how long to brush and how to feel after you brush. George Carlin fans will get my phrasing. ;-) Oral-B states in the manual that different brush heads are available for the iO. The iO and the App can be set to remind you when to change brush heads. Every three months assuming you brush twice a day for 2 minutes each time. Brush heads might be a bit large for some people. The manual shows how to clean the iO. Basically Don’t rinse the charger under running water but with everything else it's ok to. The iO comes with a travel case, (charging travel case optional from what I can tell) three brush heads and a charger. The manual states it takes 3 hours to a full charge of a completely depleted unit. The manual also states over charging is prevented by the device so you can place it on the charger when not in use and it will stay topped off without damage. The charger has a magnet that holds the iO on it but it doesn’t take much to knock it off. Do keep that in mind when finding a location to place your charger. The display shows the battery and charging status. Lastly the manual shows how to remove the lithium ion battery for proper disposal at the products end of life. From what I can tell the battery isn’t user replaceable as the manual also states that removing the battery will destroy the product and void the warranty. The iO feels well built and solid to hold and use. It’s expensive but I think you get what you pay for. I would highly recommend it for the performance and results I have gotten with it. Other than the App not talking to my iO I’m very impressed with it. It works like it should without it.

Next Best Thing to a Professional Cleaning
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This toothbrush is crazy advanced. I have been using a traditional ‘dumb’ toothbrush for a few years now. A while back I used a different electric toothbrush that just vibrated the brush head. This is in an entirely different category, not just an electric toothbrush but a ‘smart’ one. The first time I used it I noticed the difference immediately. After my first 2 minutes if felt like I had received a cleaning at my dentist's office. ******************************************************************************************************************************* The Brains – First, this (as previously stated) is a ‘smart’ toothbrush. The toothbrush can be used on its own without your phone. In this mode, it has the built-in timer, a light that guides you on how much pressure you should be applying, as well as a way to change what kind of brushing method you are wanting to use. The pretty amazing thing is when you pair it with your iPhone or Android device. The companion app communicates with your toothbrush using Bluetooth and sends data to your phone to track brush habits, areas of improvement, and also giving brushing a ‘gaming’ angle by giving you trophies for brushing correctly and building good brushing habits. I know when I connected to my iPhone the companion app also connects to Apple’s Health app to funnel data into the Health app as well. The Series 8 comes with 2 additional brush heads, and you can also set up a replenishment program with Amazon using the Oral-B app. The Series 8 should last about an hour on a full charge and the little LCD screen on it will show you the battery level when you pick it up to use. There is also a carrying case and a wireless charging stand. Charging could not be easier, you just stand the Series 8 on the wireless charging stand, the LCD screen shows the battery level charging and you are set. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So Fresh and so Clean, Clean – Brushing seems far more effective with this Series 8 toothbrush than a traditional one even if you are not using the companion app as a guide. After using this for a few days my teeth feel cleaner than when I used the traditional toothbrush. It also feels far more effortless. The brush just glides across your teeth. As I stated before, it feels like a professional cleaning after every brush with this device. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This is easily worth the investment just for the professional cleaning feel you get every time you use it. Simple pairing process, smart features whether you are using the app or stand-alone, and an effective way to track your brushing habits. I am already telling my family that this needs to be their next toothbrush. It feels like a waste of effort and time to use a traditional toothbrush now. This is an easy recommendation.
