That's exactly why I bought this laptop (making digital files of my vinyl collection). The processor is fast enough that it's been able to keep up with digitizing and transferring files. I haven't had any hiccups with it so far, but the speakers suck -- hook it up to a good pair of stereo speakers if you plan on playing your music directly from the laptop.
