You can connect the Roku soundbar via HDMI for picture, but for sound you need to use an optical sound wire from your tv to the sound bar for the sounds. That's what the ARC HDMI does, it send the sound back to the sound bar, so without an ARC you need the optical wire. You won't need a Roku Box with the Roku sound bar. It's a smart soundbar that has the Roku built into it. As long as your tv has an optical output you should be good.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If your tv does not have hdmi arc, you may still be in luck. If your tv has an optical port, you are good to go. You will connect to both the regular hdmi port and the optical port. If you can do that you can use the soundbar. The soundbar comes with both cables. My 10 year old samsung works perfectly using both cables.
