“Can Roku be updated on this tv? I read reviews on a different tv and it could not get updates or new apps that came out. Hopefully not the same thing with this one.”

I was able to update the TV when I was setting it up for the first time. My understanding is that roku TV does not get updated the same time like other regular roku devices since it has to be tested by manufacturers. I believe, a few months after the new version of the software is released, the TV should get updated. Again, this is a 2015 version of the TV, the manufacturer might only support updating the software for a limited time. I have NOT read the user guide, or agreement about how long will the manufacturer support software upgrade.
