Call Verizon and see if they have an app for their tv channels. if they do then simply download it and stream tv. no box needed and no cable from wall needed. We have time warner and they have an app so it works perfect for us. Just double check with Verizon first, but I'm like 90% sure they do have an app.

If you are just running a coax connection into your TV, you will NOT get full HD on your cable networks (think CNN, ESPN, HGTV, Cooking Channel, and on and on...) You will see a very low-resolution version of those channels and it won't look that great without a cable box. If you have this TV, then you have access to the Roku apps. I am on Time Warner / Spectrum, and they have a Roku app you can use to access these channels to see your programming in HD. This will allow you to see HD programming without a box. As long as your Roku TV is getting a good wifi signal, you should be set. It is a bit different experience than using a cable box, but it's easy and works very well. Look to see if your cable provider has a Roku app on the Roku Store (you should get there off the main screen.) Over coax, make sure you do a "channel scan" in the setup process. Once you are done, if Verizon is like my TW / Spectrum service, you should see your local stations HD version showing up a decimal number. For example, our local NBC affiliate is channel 4. When I do the channel scan in Setup, I see a channel 4.1 (note the ".1") Those are the HD versions of the channels you can get over-the-air in your area. My advice is to select those channels as "Favorites" and access those via the Favorite button a remote control to get quick access to those channels. (For the Roku TV, the remote doesn't have such a button, so you may want to look at an additional remote to do this.)
