Hi, This T.V. doesn't support soap opera effect as the refresh rate is 30. Only T.V.'s with a refresh rate of 60 or higher support that feature. It must be the source footage that makes it appear that way. Some downloaded movies, especially from iTunes, have a lower frame rate that make it appear to have a soap opera effect.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.There are several different "viewing/picture" options under the main menu, things like theater/movie/game/etc, just like any other TV. You can cycle through them or create a "custom setting" based on your prefrences. The manual will have steps to walk you through your options. A universal remote will only give you same options that the product actually has, so getting a different remote won't add options to the TV.
