I have had the same issue. I spend the weekend in the man cave with the tv and now I am suffering the consequences. It seemed to trigger my asthma and I can't stop coughing. I am looking into returning this item since I have moved it outside into the shed. I don't feel like it is safe to have in the house. What the heck kind of chemicals did they use?

I also just bought an Insignia TV at Best Buy and I actually choked and coughed several times when I opened the box! The smell is horrible and very strong. I have noticed this smell on other plastic items in the past, but never this strong. I am very disappointed. I may leave it out on my deck for a day or two and see if the smell goes away. If not, I cannot have it in my house!

I bought this tv a month ago. It felt sick once I took it out the box. For a month I have been feeling so bad. Finally made the connection and I removed the tv from my house. I will try I to take it back to the store. I have no clue what is going on with this tv but there is something in it that will definitely affect your health. Get rid of this thing ASAP

I have the same issue and my daughter too but my husband doesn’t believe me. Now I saw that there are other people that feel the same way. I feel woozy and dizzy non stop and nauseous. Yikes!

I purchase the same TV for my son and daughter soon as I open it the smell was strong. My son has asthma and I called to see was it safe to even be in the house with the smell being so strong. I had to open up the windows and doors. Still wasn't good enough I call the makers of it and they told me they never heard anyone say anything about the smell. So I will be returning them soon, knowing we aren't the only ones with this issue. Today 12/24/21 tv are nice, picture are great it's just the smell it's way to strong.

i smelled frame it stunk like burnt plastic , i know the frame had plastic i had to peel off ao not sure if this is rhe fix but i washed frame w damp papertowl n straight vinegar now all i smell is vinegarvon frame , my tv smelled when not on so inwas a little less worried but it didnstink badly on the frame ..I have never had this issue w any other tv .its mybforst insignia. They need to fix this issue ..

I have a TCL tv 50 inch I was given as a gift. The smell of burning plastic is so strong it effects my asthma.
A replacement has been sent but I’m afraid it will be the same.
It should be illegal to sell these things.

I had this same issue with the 32 inch Insignia Fire TV. It was making me sick. Took it back and bought a 32 inch Samsung, all is good now! Very weird smell and I thought it smelled like lawn fertilizer.

I purchased a 24 insignia tv for my bedroom and it immediately set of my asthma and gave me bad nausea and stomach cramping. My asthma had been in remission for years prior to buying this tv. I eventually decided to get rid of it.

Until 2022 Best Buy used fire retardant chemlcal's in the plastic on their TV's. Those chemical's are toxic, and the smell will never go away. My tv is more than two year's old, and it still smell's. I've keep the TV inside the box it came in for most of that time. Do yourself a favor get rid of the TV that's what I'm gonna do. The fume's are not safe to breathe.

I have a solution for this, as i have discovered the smell. Apparently it is the tape that is holding wires in place right under the backplate. There are atleast 20 strips and they smell worse when heated. I removed them and wiped all the residue off. The smell is significantly better, but remnants still remain, possibly deeper inside I had missed one......

A lot of new plastics have a smell that diminishes over time. I recommend you move it to another room for a few weeks to a month until the outgassing is better. I did not notice any smell with mine, but that may be because I had a new table that smelled bad for about a month.

Having the same problem with the smell of burnt rubber. Also, makes me sick to my stomach. Planning on returning the tv ASAP! Bought the same brand a year ago without this problem, but will have trouble trusting the brand again. The odor is so bad that it seems toxic.
