you can buy a full TiVo, either Edge, Bolt, Romio, but you still have to "rent" the cablecard from the cable company, usually for $2-$5 per month. cable cards are getting harder and harder to find. there's not much profit for the cable company, so they are discouraged financially from supporting this, even though required by the FCC.

note the TiVo mini products are NOT full dvrs, they allow you to extend the use of your dvr to other rooms to service additional TVs.

this is not a dvr. this is a dvr extender. you must have a TiVo dvr first, either bolt, romio or edge with at least 4 tuners.
