Is the subwoofer powered? null

It is powered by the receiver which classifies it as "passive" aka would not work with another receiver that does NOT provide power. It is not stand alone.

No the sub is not powered. But for the price this is a good system only complaint i have is with the speaker wire for the surround speakers. the wire is too short if you're trying to set them up across your den/living room
