No. It really doesn't matter. To me its a bit redundant to have a smart TV and smart DVD player since they would do the same thing. If you were to get the smart TV, can watch Netflix or listen to music through either or. To me if your going to get a new TV and already have a smart DVD player the offers everything you want /need, then I say dont get the smart TV but a nice basic tv, with the price difference you can get a bigger TV for the price of a smart TV you where going to settle for..... All unless you were planing to get a 3d TV too. Then you would need a smart TV, since 3d TVs ccome as smart TVs.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. They both essentially run the same OS, so yes apps like Netflix will be available on both the TV and the surround sound player. Although I still like to have both choices, such as when I don't want to have more than one thing turned on I can choose to just use the TV
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have a Sharp Aquos 3D TV hooked up to the Samsung unit. The apps are different on both, as they are different brands. In my case I get a bonus because the Amazon App is on the Samsung Surround sound, so I don't have to buy an amazon Firestick - saving $39 and having another remote and device to configure and manage. You can play FM and the TV at the same time, not sure why this is important. In both my cases, the apps are baked into the systems, so I am not paying extra for the smartness in the TV or the surround sound unit. I imagine a non-smart TV would benefit from this kind of unit, but only if you got a fantastic deal price wise on a quality TV. Hope this answered your questions.
