Yes, if your VHS player has the tri-color av outputs you can use the av input ports on the back of the receiver. how it does not upconvert the video signal to the hdmi output, it has a separate av output which must be connected to the tv.

The stereo has 4 HDMI input plugs. If you have the cables to plug into the HDMI plug then yes you can.

This is a home theater system for sound but if you connect a VCR to the system with a TV, yes, it can be played.
