• I got mine appart by putting it under hot tap water and grabbing the two parts with paper towels. They finally unscrewed during the cool down stage.

• No trick -- but are you sure you're unscrewing them in the right direction? Maybe you're tightening them up. Mine unscrewed easily.

• the lens adapter unscrews, I had a difficult time so I took them back to best buy and had them do it

• Use something to help give you a better grip on each edge so you can twist and unscrew it apart.
