• No, this does not require antivirus. Unlike a mac/pc you don't install programs onto it. You enable extensions in the browser.

• have had bought chrome computers for over a year. They take care of any virus protection saving me money and updating it as compared to windows. For the price get one and check it out.

• No, the anti-virus program is part of the operating system. I can not say how good or bad the self updating program is. You have no information on what the program is doing.
