The monitor has no adjustments of any kind on it. It's just a very nice 27" monitor.

I would say more like 30° would be the maximum tilt, maybe 45°, but definitely not 90°. I cannot tell you what benefit you might receive if you mount it to a monitor mount, however. Or you may have to get creative and come up with something. Perhaps a customized stand for it?
