If you are running it with HDMI connection, switch to DVI. It sounds crazy but it makes a world of difference in the image quality. I had the same issues you had til I made the swtich.

If the video is highly compressed it will include compression artifacts and pixelation. So if the video is bad, it will look bad on any monitor.
