It's definitely not as hard as sethg described above. You'll have to remove approximately 12 screws from the bottom of the laptop and then slowly pry off the bottom cover. You'll likely have to use a credit card or other thin plastic object to wedge between the cover and the body of the computer. Just go slow and you'll hear several "popping" or "click" sounds as the cover separates from the computer. You don't have to disconnect the keyboard or any other components.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. My Acer does not have a hard drive. I purchased one for about $25 and it plugs right into a USB port to function just like a built-in hard drive.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Is fairly easy, just remove all the phillips screws from below of the laptop, before open the cover below be careful not drop the hard drive as it is not hold to anything, then with a plastic pry start opening the side of the laptop, be patient and careful not to broke the plastic clips and remember not to let the hard drive fall, the first time is kind of hard to open it but after that time it will be easier, then you can have access also to memory, fan, etc. Hope this helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It can be tricky unless your experienced with opening up laptops. I dont know 100% on this model, but I can say for sure you'll need to go under the keyboard, disconnect its connections from the motherboard, unscrew a bunch of housing panels to get the hard drive free and put it all back together without shorting out the whole thing b/c you dont remove the battery cell. heres a video i found for the E15 model swapping the HD to give you an idea, im pretty sure the R model is going to be mostly the same under the hood https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YuKmm-dmFGY my last laptop i attempted it, and after popping off the keyboard, unscrewing like 10 metal housing panels, disconnecting half a dozen ribbons/connections , finally removing the HD to discover the SSD wouldnt fit quite right So my advice would be to get an external portable SSD or even an internal one and just buy a enclosure/docking station for it make that your primary drive and use the installed TB drive as backup or w/e
