The USB 2 is purposely included because it is an "always on" port so that you can charge any device even when the laptop is off.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.There are some programs that require you to plug your cable into a usb 2.0 port rather than a 3.0. I have run into this in the past when unlocking phones, it specifically says to use your 2.0 port. I would gather that other programs must also require it.
