The cord is 34" including the plug . I think it's a bit short but if you have another longer one around it can be connected to the plug and work the same . That is what I did because where I charge it is too far away from the outlet . The tripod is basically the same as a tripod for a camera and could be used the same way if you want to use your tablet for pictures or recording videos . Or possibly used for something like watching a how to video while fixing something . Tripod just means it has 3 legs that extend and you mount a camera , tablet or if you ever seen a Civil Engineer surveying land or a road with a scope mounted on a tripod
