As soon as the Play Store is available to the Acer R11 in the next month or two, you will be able to run all Android apps natively including Minecraft (the Android version anyway).

Linux allows java, which allows minecraft, and I've read the performance is very impressive for the specs this Chromebook offers, even while rendering 9 chunks out.. Also the guys at my local Best Buy told me there's a free browser version of Minecraft alpha/beta or something like that that is completely Chrome accessible.

This means you can play mine craft on it. But if you can't wait and are looking for a cheap way to play check out Amazons $49 fire tablet! Got my nieces both one and they are mincraft addicts.
