• True, Android apps do not currently run on the Acer R11. Presently you can run web based programs through your browser and the limited Chrome browser extensions and Chrome OS apps as shown in the Chrome OS Store. However, within 2 months you will be able to download the Google Play Store with access to all Android apps. The Acer R11 is the second Chromebook receiving this ability through the Chrome OS. Once that's done, you will have all the functionality Google has to offer.

• I ordered this chromebook over Thanksgiving for my 8 year old daughter for Christmas. I took it into Best Buy today and a geek squad worker assisted in the setup and updating software in addition to getting the google play store on the Chromebook. So YES, you can get the play store on this tablet. I am very excited for my daughter to get it for Christmas. It will be an upgrade from a traditional tablet and introduce her to using a keyboard more often.

• You can use apps from the Google Chrome Play Store. Google is working to make Android apps compatible with many Chromebook models. You can find information on this at https://sites.google.com/a/chromium.org/dev/chromium-os/chrome-os-systems-supporting-android-apps?rd=1 It looks like the R11 will be one of the next models to support Android apps.

• As of today, this model CAN use Android apps. Per digitaltrends.com "A handful of Chromebooks can already officially run the Google Play Store and install Android apps, including the Asus Chromebook Flip, the Acer Chromebook R11/C738T/CB5-132T, and Google’s own Chomebook Pixel (2015). If yours is one of those, then jump ahead to step one to get started."

• Yes Android apps, the same place you get them on most Androids. The Google play store
