Chromebooks don't work like Windows computers: in general you don't download apps. Instead, you access them via the Internet. Word is no exception. So, you will be able to use Word on this computer, and it is free.

Please try again later.Not out of the box; Chromebooks use Google's own office apps, which are generally compatible with Office files, but can tend to cause some formatting issues. But it appears Microsoft offers a limited web-based version of Office free for use online, and that there are extensions for the Chrome browser you can install that make using it easier somehow. Additionally, (I think) a fully-featured Microsoft Office is available online on a subscription basis. Some quick searches online should dig up all the information you need to make it happen.
