Acrobat 2017 is activated using the license and serial number info attached to or included with the packaging. MUST create an Adobe.com account online. Acrobat 2017 can be installed on up to two devices at a time.

You'll also need your student, or teacher email address for verification. If you can't do these things, you might have to buy the Professional version which costs around 4 or 5 hundred dollars.
