As long as you have something connected like a gaming console thru hdmi or a computer thru display port or hdmi it can be used. It is a monitor only not a computer combo. Hope this helps answer your question. If you turn it on without a source connected and on, it will revert to power save mode and the menu cant be accessed. Accept for the input select menu.
