The aux cable is hard to get fully seated into the socket on the headphones. You need to wiggle and/or twist to get the molded plastic at the top of the aux cord to go all the way into the plastic around the socket. This gave us SO much annoyance the first time we used them.

Please try again later.Make sure you have that plug in to the correct hole on the bottom of the headphones these headphones come with a removable microphone so there are 2 small holes side-by-side. Also make sure that you can get another set of headphones to work in that tablet to verify that the headphone jack is not broken or somehow defective. After doing that if it still doesn't work I would try a different cable may be the cable that came included was somehow defective. In that case I'm sure Altec Lansing would be willing to either send you a replacement or direct you toward the story you purchased it at to get a replacement. I can't be sure without having them in front of me but that's probably the issue you might have a defective wire.
