Yes, I also work from home and use these with no problem.

Having a wired headset is better than using earbuds, a speakerphone, or a laptop's built-in microphone and speakers which can pick up a lot of background noise. These (or anything in their price range) should be fine for normal use, as long as you have an available USB port to plug them into. If very good audio clarity is important, however, then I'd pay more for a professional-grade one from this company, Logitech, or Plantronics for example.
