• You have to set it up with a phone initially after that there are some functions that can work independent of a phone like steps, heart rate and sport modes or after you pair with a phone you can also pair with an iOS or Android tablet

• You need a device (I used an i-pad) that can read a QR code, and that can connect to the internet. You also need to be somewhat savvy with technology. A really smart guy at Best Buy helped me with the various steps involved. The process took about 5 minutes. I really like the features I use on the Amaz-fit... the step counter and clock. Otherwise, I know it can do a lot more, but I'll look into that another day. Good luck!
