Hello! You do not have to have Audible. You can enable text to speech in the Kindle under accessibility on the Kindle device. You can go to Settings, Accessibility, and toggle on VoiceView Screen Reader. You must make sure your device is synced to a Bluetooth device. This will be a little bit different than a normal text to speech, as the Kindle will now tell you what buttons you are hitting. For instance, when you hit "Settings" it will say "Settings". To get it to read your book, simply double tap on the book and it will open it and begin reading. You can also adjust speech rate and volume under the settings menu if you are looking to adjust that. I hope that helps! Have a great day!
