Yes this is going to use data. I would think a very small amount, but depends on your usage. You can setup the table/smartphone to go to the webpage when you ask a question, and this will definitely use data... it would be no different than going to the webpage yourself. I set-up my fire tablet to work this way, but I have a grandfathered non-throttled unlimited data plan so it does not affect me at all.
