• Yes u can use it as a surround sound for your tv as long as it is a smart tv

• You can use the Echo as an external blue tooth speaker but there are no external inputs for direct wiring. Not sure if you can pair your tv to the Echo for sound??? There is an auxiliary output jack in the back of the Echo for connecting to another external sound device like a receiver. I use Alexa paired with a Harmony hub in the opposite manner... to voice control my tv and receiver. Most use their Echo as voice enabled external music device for their sound system. I do not know anyone who uses their Echo as an external speaker for their TV... I would recommend a sound bar and then use Echo as a music device and remote assistant to possibly turn on/off your system.
