No, the Google Play Store and all its services are free. You can download it for free thru an app call ES File Explorer. Download it first thru the Amazon Store, then use it to get the entire Google play store and all else for free. It's way better than the very limited Amazon App Store. Go to YouTube and look up Gadgetsxray videos, and he gives step by step as to how to do this. I've done it for about 11 of these tablets and all are fine, better actually, and it's a breeze to do. If you have wifi in your home or go places where free wifi is, it costs nothing to be on Google.
