“I want to get this for my father, but he has no internet or wi fi at his home. he loves to read and keeps accumulating books. he would love this tablet. is this a good idea for him and will he be able to use it? thanks”

He will need the internet to download and purchase books

Please try again later.If he does not have internet / wifi at home, he will have to go to "free" source, such as local library, or coffee shop - even my grocery store has free wifi now. Can you pre-load some books on it for him, and just update periodically for him? Only you know if you can teach him to 1) download the app, 2) open the app 3) open the book / select what you want to read or listen to.....several apps are very easy to use - such as Amazon Prime Books or Audible for audio books.....Hoopla is thru your local library (if they offer it) etc.
