once you read a book,what happens to that book? null

What happens to the book is up to you. You can delete it from the device if you wish, and it will be stored in the Amazon Cloud, presumably forever. Then, if you wish to read it again, you can re-load it. It will always remain in your Library unless you manually delete it from the Library.
