You have to have Internet connection to download the games but once the games or apps are downloaded you are good to go. No Internet will be needed to play the games you have downloaded. And this one comes with tons of apps already on it. You just choose which ones you want, then download. It's easy and great for my 2 year old. hope this helps.

Please try again later.You have the ability to store apps on the internal memory (8G), but what we have done was purchase a SD card to expand the memory to 32G and download all the apps and any shows/movies the kids like to watch onto the card for long trips with no internet. Amazon prime has a feature where you can check out a movie onto your device for 72 hours (i believe) once you open and start watching it.

Please try again later.The need for internet is determined by the app, not the machine.. having said that, you can download TONS of apps, movies, music, games, and shows that don't require access to view or play after download. You cannot download ANYTHING, on any machine, without some type of access to the internet.
