Depends on which Roku box your are asking about, essentially they do the same things, however there are small differences which make this box slightly better. It has 4k ability, it has HBO Now and voice search. There is more but overall for the price you get more.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Amazon has done an amazing job signing up partners for this product. PlayStation Vue, HBO Now, Netflix, Hulu, STARZ, Showtime can all be accessed through Fire TV. Vue is amazing for television. Cloud DVR, on screen guide and ESPN, CNN and over 100 other channels that are actual channels you watch. Very impressed.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I think it compares favorably to Roku depending on what you are wanting. Most all of the channels I watched on my Roku are available on the Fire TV except for Vudu. However, at the time of this writing, Playstation Vue is available on the Fire TV and not on the Roku. This is what prompted me to buy the Fire TV over another Roku. If you have a lot of digital content on Amazon or just want to watch things such as Hulu and Netflix, I don't think you can go wrong. Of course, if you are a Prime member, then the integration is fantastic. You can also add on different packages to your membership such as Showtime and Starz, which makes them show up in the recommendations section and makes it easy to watch. It's a personal preference really, but I love my box and am thinking about purchasing another for the living room.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I had a roku and could never get it to recognize my wifi. I wish Roku would have worked, but I never had any luck. Amazon Fire practically sets itself up. I couldn't compare them. They are so different all around.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.i could not get PlayStation vue on the Roku i could get it on amazon fire
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I've owned both, this is much faster than the Roku and overall a more fine tuned experience. Compared to the Roku 4K however they are very similar.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I like this much better than the Roku. My daughter has the Rocku, and the Fire TV has more capabilities (Streaming from a home server or USB drive via Kodi), and seems to be faster. Not to mention it's cheaper, so it's a win/win!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Roku is a lot better. Amazon has a lot more buffering issues.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Not as intuitive with the control buttons but overall better for me. Really like the voice control
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You would need to have an Amazon Prime account to really get a ton out of the Amazon Fire TV. There are a ton of available apps through the Roku. I have used both and prefer Roku simply based on the wide variety of options. Thanks!
