• hey there, nope, smart tv not needed. all you need is the fire tv and an hdmi port on your tv. the fire tv connects to your network on it's own.

• Your tv does not need to connect to the internet but the Amazon Fire box will need to using either ethernet or wireless. Ethernet give you the best performance. If you are a cable-cutter or performance is important for you, don't get the stick and get the box.

• You do not need a smart tv, this essentially turns your tv into a smart tv. The firetv allows for faster streaming compared to the stick.

• If your TV has a USB slot you can use the Fire TV stick. You can also use the Fire TV device.

• would recommend the firebox modded even f your tv is a smart tv modded you can get all tv shows and movies you like contact me but no your tv does not need to be a smart tv and yes you would still need to get either or. contact me if you are interested once you purchase from best buy

• Both the box and stick have a wifi chip built in, so the only requirement for ur tv is a HDMI port.

• You do not need a smart tv for the fire tv box to operate, but you will need either an Internet connection or wifi hot spot to connect. The stick and box offer the exact same features only the box has more capabilities. There is a plug for an ethernet cord, slot for micro SD card for more memory as well as USB slot.

• The TV does not need to be a TV. Either the Fire TV or Fire TV Stick will work with the HDTV. Wireless internet connection is required to operate the Fire TV however.
