I’m not exactly sure what you’re asking. There are cable-like streaming services, which you could use with this, some of which include dvr functions. They’re really expensive though, like if I’m remembering correctly, AT&T’s cheapest price is $65/month now. If you’re looking to actually record tv, you’d want either a Tivo, or get amazon’s firetv recast in addition to this, which turns it into a dvr. Otherwise, of course there’s lots of films available on various streaming services, some free and ad supported, some not, but there’s no “recoding” with them.

This is just the hardware. You need software..meaning APPS. So research Android APPS for you specific uses. There ate many free tv apps out there. Crackle, etc. Live tv , dvr apps just due diligent research before just getting Netflix, Hulu, or Disney+. If it is online, it is free somewhere and LEGAL!!!
