Hello, The cube is not for recording. It is the same as the Fire TV Stick, except it has a Echo Dot built in for hands free control, as well as an IR reader to hands free turn on devices such as your TV and cable box. If the Dish app is available now on the Fire TV Stick you have, you would have the same functionality with the Cube.
